It’s no secret that the airport food is not typically the best nutritionally speaking. Most convenience foods found in the airport (or on the road) make your blood sugar crash leaving you feeling even more exhausted and jet lagged. Being jet lagged can influence how your body processes glucose and being sleep deprived can cause sugar cravings…not a good combination. Taking a few minutes extra minutes preparing snacks for your trip will make all the difference…your body will thank you.
Here are 15 simple travel snack ideas that won’t put you on a blood sugar rollercoaster.
- Celery sticks (or carrots) and peanut butter
- Hard boiled eggs. Can buy prepackaged
- Olive packets. I like the ones from Trader Joe’s
- Chomps or other jerkey. Check label for added sugar.
- Nut butter packets + whole fresh fruit (not dried)
- Dark chocolate (80% cocoa or more)
- String cheese + seed crackers.
- Nuts *1/4 c is the portion size 😉
- Chia seed pudding or chia seed squeeze pack
- BTR Bar
- Roasted seaweed packets
- Lesser Than Evil popcorn
- Paleo granola
- Oywn protein drink
- Good Culture individual cottage cheese cup
