How Far Along: 24 weeks and Parker is as big as an ear of corn and about 1 1/4 lb.. although based on the somersaults and ninja jabs I’m feeling, he could be a lot bigger and stronger than that. My placenta is positioned in front and the doctor said I may not be able to feel him as much due to its placement. Ummm WRONG. His movements wake me up at all hours of of the night, when he’s most active. He sleeps all day and moves all night.. a sign of things to come. He already has his days and nights mixed.. it’s ok, P.. you have about 16 weeks to figure that sh*t out before you make your debut. Don’t let me down.
Gender: Boy. Have I told you I’m having a third boy yet? 😉
Feeling: Large. In charge (not). And pretty anxious lately but not sure if it’s pregnancy or just life. Probably a mix of both. Oh, and tired #shocker. Around 3 pm each day, I crash. Luckily, both boys are sleeping during that time so it gives me a minute to regroup before the dinner time hustle. I find the hardest time of day being 4-6:30 pm.. the boys are up from naps, it’s too hot to really go for a walk, they’re cranky because it has been a long day and Jackson says everything’s so, “BOOOOOORING” (so it begins). And I just don’t have the energy to cook a hot meal in a hot kitchen. Ya feel me? We’ve spent a lot of our afternoons at the pool and then eating out.. so not what I had in mind when I wrote down my Summer Intentions and cooking more. But.. LIFE.
Maternity Clothes: I haven’t bought any more maternity clothes because they’re so FUGLY.. I mean, have you even browsed Nordstrom’s maternity section? WOOF. I can’t. Instead, I’m living in stretchy dresses like this, this and this. We have a couple more weeks (hopefully months) of Summer so I just bought this bathing suit top, this cover up tank dress and this henley. Not maternity.. just materials that will stretch and grow with this super sexy bod I’m rockin.
Sleep: Hmmm same same as before. I sleep well every couple of nights. I take melatonin most nights and when I forget, I don’t get a good night’s rest. And yes, my doc said it’s ok to take melatonin during pregnancy.
Body Changes: The biggest difference is in my boobs, butt and thighs.. always. But my boobs basically grew overnight.. like I don’t even want to measure them because it’s National Geographic worthy. Anyways, buying all the larges I can find in sports bras because you couldn’t pay me $1,000 (ok maybe you could) to put a real bra on at this point. Ok yeah, I’d def take $1,000 cuz #NSALE.
Exercise: Sticking to 4-6 days a week of light cardio, walking, HIIT and barre. Alix and I took our first Orange Theory class in months the other day and even though I walked during the treadmill section, I burned more calories in one workout than I have in MONTHS. It felt so good so I bought a 10 pack and plan to go once a week the remainder of this pregnancy. There is NOTHING like that workout and so easy to modify while still pushing yourself. I’m told that you should be able to sing “happy birthday” all the way through during a workout when pregnant as this will ensure your heart rate isn’t too high and you aren’t overexerting yourself. So that’s my rule of thumb.. especially during a hardcore workout like OTF. My body is going to change, grow, get bigger, whatever. But I am determined to be as strong as possible going into labor.. so Parker falls out.
Cravings: The craving for tuna fish sandwiches has never been so strong. Love affair. The one from Nordstrom (I swear I don’t live there) and the one from our local Metropolitan Market have my heart. And always an Arnold Palmer to accompany. I’m also craving sushi.. so sad because I don’t like tempura and all I want is some sashimi in my FACE. My first meal postpartum will be a spicy tuna roll. You can bet on it.
Looking Forward To: Champagne. Guys.. I just really want a glass of ice, cold bubbbbbbbbly! I don’t crave alcohol during my pregnancies like some women and it’s not like a glass of champagne sounds particularly delicious right now.. but I can’t wait to have my first glass after he’s born. Our summer has been so busy.. so social.. and while I can still have fun without boozing, it’s just different. I miss getting together with my girlfriends, enjoying a glass or two and just talking. So come the holidays, you’ll be able to find me with bubbles in hand (after I’ve pumped and dumped, of course.. #eyeroll)…
Just looked over this post and I’m definitely in a feisty mood, aren’t I? That’s what parenting and pregnancy will do to you.. don’t judge me 😉
