Eeeeekkk today is my 35 birthday…why hello mid 30’s! After spending some time reflecting on this past year I’m feeling really good about where I am at in life right now. I have solid friendships and family support I’m so grateful for and I love my little family of 3 (okay Bailey too!)
This past year I have really enjoyed having this little blog as a creative outlet and to connect with a community of likeminded and awesome people. It’s been therapeutic to share about personal struggles, but also so fun to share my love for nutrition, food, and fitness with you guys.
So today I thought it would be fun to take this opportunity to share 35 things that some of you might not know about me….enjoy 😉
- I really want to get a tattoo…most likely I will get the letter Q on my wrist for Quinn.
- I’ve had 4 knee surgeries (all on my right knee) I tore my ACL playing soccer in college and had complications from the surgery.
- I went to college and played division 1 soccer at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo.
- I was the 2nd most expensive athlete to go through Cal Poly athletics (at the time) with all my surgeries and injuries.
- I got Bailey as a therapy dog in college to help with my ED recovery.
- I was such a tom boy growing up I mistaken as my sister’s little brother all the time.
- I saw the movie Titanic 7 times in theater when it first came out…obsessed much!
- I totaled 2 cars (both Ford Explorer sports) in college…oopsies!
- My husband and I went to the same college at the same time and never knew each other. We met in San Francisco a few years later.
- I named my golden retriever growing up Nyles from the TV show Frasier
- I almost cut off my ring finger cutting an avocado last year and had to get surgery to repair the tendons.
- I used to teach Pure Barre in CA
- My next dog will 100% be a mini golden doodle
- I can still recite every word from Ace Ventura
- I have a thing for even numbers…my birthday is 4/4/84… we got married on 10/4/14…and Quinn’s birthday is 8/14/16. Odd numbers freak me out.
- My nicknames playing soccer were Al, Lexi, and Cohen (my maiden name)
- I ran track in high school for a year, but I would get so anxious and sick to my stomach before meets I quit. I’m more of a team sport girl I realized
- I’m randomly really good and throwing and catching a frisbee
- I’ve lived in Orange County, San Luis Obispo, Ellensburg WA, Wenatchee WA, San Francisco, Oakland, and Seattle. Never EVER thought I would end back up in WA…life is funny that way
- I was really into EMO music in high school and college….think dashboard confessionals
- I would love to go on a wellness retreat somewhere amazing with all.the.things. It’s on my bucket list…maybe for my 40th
- If I won the lottery I would open up my own fitness studio that also offered qualified nutrition counseling and a rad fuel bar
- I use the name “Ali” at Starbucks. It’s what my niece and nephew have always called me and I love it
- I actually tried to change my name in 5th grade to “Allie” but it never caught on
- I used to have my belly button pierced…I kinda miss it TBH
- A diet coke from the McDonalds drive thru is my guilty pleasure…sue me!
- I grind my teeth like crazy at night and have to sleep with a mouth guard. It used to bug me, but now I can’t fall asleep without it
- Talking on the phone stresses me out. Can’t we just text?
- I hate public speaking…one of my biggest fears for sure. I try to challenge myself and say yes more now to speaking opportunities, but still hate it
- I’m the least artistic person you’ll ever meet. I can’t even draw bubble letters
- I took college soccer recruiting trips to UNLV, Kansas University, University of Oregon, CU Boulder, then freaked out and last minute wanted to stay in CA
- I ran my first half marathon last year which was a huge accomplishment because I never thought I’d be able to run that far after after 4 knee surgeries
- I was 9.5 cm dilated when I showed up to the hospital in labor with Quinn…I was lucky we lived close to the hospital ha! She came fast and furious
- If I could only eat one thing the rest of my life it would probably be Mexican food…more specifically chips and REALLY legit guac…and margaritas 😉
- My first real concert was *NSYNC
Thank you for following along and now you probably know more about me then you ever wanted to!

Alix
