Back to reality! We took a redeye home Saturday from Hawaii leaving us with a full day on Sunday to get our lives together before starting a new week. We were complete zombies Sunday, but I powered through and got us all unpacked, laundry done, and meal planned and went grocery shopping. Ready for the week!
We had a blast in Hawaii…we ate all the food and drank all the beverages #noregrets but now that vacay is over I’m anxious to get back to my normal routine. These are 5 steps I take to help me get back on track after vacation.
Meal Planning + Grocery Store
Maybe you overdid it a bit on your vacation…lets just say I was feeling most comfortable in my high waisted swimmie by the end of the trip 😉 The knee jerk reaction is to compensate your intake to make up for all those poolside cocktails, but don’t!
I plan to just get back to my normal diet and work to get in extra veggies and water this week. Our fridge and pantry is empty so I plan to use this grocery list and stock up for the week. Here is what I’m thinking for my weekly dinners: miso glazed salmon + roasted veggies, chicken salad, spiraled carrots + ground turkey, turkey meatballs + zoodles, and Trader Joe’s cauliflower fried rice + chicken.
I will also be loosely following a low sugar meal plan similar to this one to help me reset my taste buds 😉
Schedule Exercise
I am one of those people who LOVES working out on vacation, but traveling with Quinn it isn’t as easy to get it in. I worked out a few times while we were in Hawaii, but nothing like my usual weekly routine. Sometimes it can be hard to snap out of vacay mode, but you will feel so much better if you get back to your normal workout schedule. So, I hopped on my ClassPass app and have my workouts scheduled for the week.
Tame My Social Life
I’ll be taking a little break from booze this week because it feels like we’ve been on a bender. Like I said…#noregrets but I’m craving some down time and plan to lay low and catch up around the house. Vacation with a toddler is not exactly relaxing- ha! We are all feeling pretty wiped (especially with the time changes), so the plan is to hunker down and get back into our routine.
Hydrate
My iced coffee + poolside cocktails definitely outweighed my water intake on this trip. I’m dusting off my hydro flask getting my water challenge on all week! 80-120 oz a day is my goal…. anyone else with me?
I’m also eating all the hydrating fruits and veggies with meals and snacks. I also have a facial scheduled today because all the travel, heat, and sweat is not the greatest for my skin. I’ll be asking her for all the hydration during my facial.
Sleep
With the time change in Hawaii Quinn was up around 5:15-6am every day…not terrible but we were staying up later than normal hanging out once the kids went to bed. This week I plan to really focus on my night time routine and get to bed EARLY! This is so key to getting your body back on track after vacation.
I’d love to hear what helps you get back on track after vacation? Let’s share our tips and tricks!
Aloha 😉
