I set the goal to read 60 books in 2025 and I was able to surpass that already! Currently I’ve finished 65 this year. While I have to admit 75% of those are audible because I honestly do not have the time or personality to sit still and read that many books. I typically listen to an audible book at 1.5x and listen while I’m doing laundry, driving solo, cleaning the house, walking, etc. Anytime I have free solo time I will throw my headphones on and listen to my book. I really love audible books and can easily follow along while multitasking which is perfect for my personality. I have a really hard time reading a book unless it’s on vacation or before bed, and by that point I’m so tired I don’t make it far in my book before it’s lights out.
All this to say, I read listened to a lot of books this year and I have no shame in being an audio book girlie and still consider it reading 😉 Here are my top picks from 2025:
Thorne of Glass series by Sarah J. Maas
8 total books including The Assassin’s Blade and honestly wish there were even more books in this series I loved it that much.
My Friends by Fredrick Backman
This book gave me all the feels…I laughed, I cried, and got very attached to the characters. A unique story with wonderful writing.
The Rose Code by Kate Quinn
This book has been on my TBR list for a long time and I finally got it this year. I love historical fiction and Kate Quinn is the master of this genre.
Broken Country by Clare Leslie Hall
This is a heavy book filled with love, loss and heartbreak. It is a beautifully written story with some good twists along the way.
The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue by V.E. Schwab
If you’re into audibles I recommend listening to this one. The GOAT, Julia Whelan, narrates it and I think it made the book even that much better.
Onyx Storm by Rebecca Yarros
This was my first book of the year and I read and listened to it at the same time because I wanted to get through it as fast as possible so I could discuss all the theories with my friends also reading. This is the third book in the Fourth Wing series and left us with so many questions and theories. Absolutely cannot wait for book 4!
Before We Were Yours by Lisa Wingate
This book has also been on my TBR list for a long time and lives up to the hype. It was an absolutely heartbreaking story which is based on a real life story.
Sunrise on the Reaping by Suzanne Collins
Hunger Games was the first series that really got me into reading for fun when I was younger. I was so excited to dive into Haymitch’s story and it was a sad one, but SO good!
Atmosphere by Taylor Jenkins Reid
TJR can do no wrong and while this was not my favorite book of hers it was still a wonderful story that I really enjoyed. Julia Whelan is one of the female narrators which made the audible even better!
The Correspondent by Virginia Evans
I started this book right after finishing TOG series and have to be honest. I stopped it 1/4 way through because my head just wasn’t in it. It’s a story written through letters and it took some time for me to know who all the characters were and I wans’t in the mood for it. However, this book has received so much buzz that I picked it back up and DEVOURED IT. I really loved the story and thought it was beautifully written. I used to write letters with my grandmother when I was younger and this book inspired me to start letter writing again.
I’m currently devouring Silver Elite …I’m late to the game I know!
What were your favorite read in 2025?
