As you may or may not have seen, we’re going through a little rebranding moment over here. But before we get to that, let’s rewind shall we? The Champagne Theory was born 5 years ago back in 2018.. and boy did life look different back then. Heather had two boys under 3, Alix had a two year old and we lived 5 blocks from one another. We became fast friends when we met and quickly realized that a blog between the two of us would be a wonderful hobby. We had both quit our jobs after babies and needed an outlet to express our creativity and individual passions. We often met at the park or one of our houses to let the kids play and “kill the afternoon.” You know, the 4-7 pm bewitching hours before bedtime. We’d typically sip on a glass of champagne, or two, and drum up blog ideas.
Thinking back on it, creating a blog was extremely ambitious with such little kids at home but here we are 5 years later without ever missing a single post. Heather posts on Mondays, Alix on Wednesdays, and jointly on Fridays. We named it the Champagne Theory because we were very much in the throes of motherhood, sometimes navigating it hour by hour. And when you’re in it, you’re IN IT. And a drink helped us cope, we won’t lie. Healthy? Probably not. Relatable? Absolutely. We often go back and look at blog posts from those times and are reminded just how trying they were. And we are damn proud of how far we’ve come not only with the blog but in our motherhood journey.
Fast forward to now. Don’t get it twisted, we are still very much in it in the motherhood department. No, it doesn’t necessarily get easier as they get older. It just gets harder in different ways. We have each moved and now live an hour from one another (sad face), we have a total of 5 kids between the two of us, and while life is hectic we’ve grown so much in the past 5 years both personally and professionally. We absolutely love this blog and the community we’ve built and you guys show up every day to help us navigate what we should be writing about.
Over the past few weeks, we slowly started having conversations about our blog and the direction we’re heading. As we inch closer and closer to 40, we both feel more confident in who we are than we ever have before. The Champagne Theory was born because after a long, hard day with the kids a drink was needed. Do we still love a celebratory cocktail every now and then? Absolutely. But we’ve evolved, gained some wisdom and some wrinkles in the process, and feel ready to move forward as ourselves. The blog itself will remain www.thechampapgnetheory.com because it’s our baby. But our Instagram, LTK, and Pinterest pages will hence forth be named:
