I’m a sucker for a viral product.. something about it just tickles my brain and sucks me right in #PURCHASED. But I have tried a number of viral products that I think, “How could anybody like this shit?” And yes, everyone has different hair and skin types so some products will work great for some and not others. But below are the products I tried that I will never repurchase.
Also, if you see something on this list that you love, that’s OK we can still be friends. They just didn’t work for me 🙂 Let’s get started:
For $27 you better WERK. And this just doesn’t. K18 has some AMAZING other products. You are better off just using the leave-in Molecular Repair mask, which I use often but please please please read the directions to ensure you’re using that product correctly. But when it comes to an actual hair oil, the K18 is intended to be used only on wet hair and even then, it didn’t seem to really do anything for my hair. Instead, I love this drugstore oil for my ends (I also use it to coat my hair before I shampoo to protect my hair from the water damage). If it seems a little too thick for you and think it’ll weigh your hair down, I also have and love this option and it’s much lighter.
I’m sorry but CLUMP CITY. My lashes looked like caterpillars when I applied this mascara. No thanks. And yes, it’s only $11 so I didn’t feel like I wasted a ton of money on this product but nonetheless I hated it. I love her liquid blushes but her mascara is a total bust in my opinion. Instead, I stick to my drugstore mascaras and never been happier. I have two favorites: this one and this one. I rotate based upon which one I grab first. No clear winner cuz they both win. And I’ve been opting for BROWN eyeliner and mascara recently for a softer, less harsh look and loving the effect it has on my overall makeup look.
Olaplex Bond Shampoo/Conditioner
I knew this product was shit when I saw it at my local Albertson’s lol. Not to hate on drugstore shampoos and conditioners because some are actually AMAZING and work very well (Loreal bond repair being one of them and it’s what I use at our house in Wisconsin). And some Olaplex products work very well for some but the shampoo and conditioner are terrible in my opinion. They did not repair any damage and I actually felt like I was shedding more hair when using the product. At $30 a pop, you’re much better off getting the Redkin Bonding Repair shampoo and conditioner and it smells SO GOOD. It was also recommended by my hairdresser and the price is comparable. Bonding repair is for those looking to fix damanged hair and strengthen, things I need after having extensions for a period of time. 2024 is the year of hair health for me.
There was a time and place for our Drunk Elephant days and it was 3 years ago. Let’s be better than that, especially because there are so many less expensive options on the market. While I love a bronzy glow more than anyone (I mix it with my daily SPF), I just think it’s time to move on from DE. I have the Westman Atelier liquid bronzing drops but I am not going to tell you to buy those because they’re more expensive. I am going to tell you to buy the Loreal Glotion enhancer for $13.99. I got the GLOW DEEP color and mix it with my SPF every morning and wear this as my makeup on non-makeup days. Gives my skin a healthy, glowy complexion while also providing a tiny bit of coverage and evenness to the skin.
This stuff is garbage and does nothing. I want my brow gel to hold my eyebrow hairs in place at the very least and it doesn’t even do that. Or if I don’t want to fill in my brows and want to brush them up for a more laminated look, I expect my brow gel to get the job done. This one does not do any of those things. TOSS. Instead, I use this one by Anastasia and I should never never strayed from her. She is the queen of brows and knows her shit. Will never question her again!!!!
