Black Friday has now become something much more than just the “Day After Thanksgiving Sale.” It’s now 6 days of complete and utter MADNESS. Last year, we saw Old Navy launching their sales at 12:01 am on the Wednesday BEFORE Thanksgiving and others followed suit. Don’t be surprised when that happens again this year. So you better be READY! If you wait until Friday, you’re already late. Let’s get to the dates you need to keep in mind before getting to the goods:
First, you need to know the important dates to shop:
Day 1: Wednesday before Thanksgiving (11/27)
You are going to see your favorite retailers advertising their sales earlier and earlier so be on the lookout for promo deals and steals on Wednesday. Last year, Old Navy paved the way and this year I can guarantee you that most retailers will have some sort of promo on the Wednesday before Black Friday.
Day 2: Thanksgiving Thursday (11/28)
Stores like Target, Walmart, and Kohl’s always offer deals on Thanksgiving Day. However, don’t be a sucker waiting in line to buy your jumbo TV.. they typically have the same deals online as they do in-store. Target started their deals at 1:00 am EST on Thanksgiving Day in 2018 so you can snag any power deals early that morning before you even put that turkey in the oven!
Day 3: Black Friday (11/29)
Obviously, this is the main event. When people are trampling over each other at Walmart. But seriously, ONLY go in-store if you know your retailer isn’t offering the product online. I don’t want to see your face on the evening news that you ran over an old lady to get a 60 inch television, ok?
Day 4-5: Small Business Saturday & Sunday (11/30-12/1)
Shop local small businesses on Small Business Saturday and Sunday. For every dollar you spend at a small business, $0.67 of it stays right there in your community. Search social media for the hashtag #SmallBizSat and #ShopSmall to find out who’s participating near you.
Day 6: Cyber Monday (12/2)
Alright, Cyber Monday is kind of lame in my opinion and more about the #hype. Sure, there will still be deals to be had but don’t wait until Monday to shop. The best time is Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday to snag the best deals. Most sales start again at 12 am on Monday but be sure to double check time zones, sleepy head 😉
Alright, now that your calendar is outlined up in color-coded marker let’s identify some of the sales you should tackle first:
SSENSE: The sale I wait for all year long in order to splurge on any new handbags or sneakers (hello, high top Golden Goose sneakers!) Just tell your significant other (or yourself.. treat yo’self, Queen) that it’s an early Christmas present. PSA: SSENSE is having a sale on Golden Goose’s TODAY! If you can find your size, jump on that opportunity.
Nordstrom: One of the best sales of Black Friday.. with items on markdown up to 60% off YASSSSSS!
Amazon: This is when I load up on all the gadgets, such as coffee machines, vacuums, an air fryer, ice machine, etc!! Also, all of my kid’s Xmas gifts.. this is when you load up and figure out where you’re going to hide it all. Good luck with that part.
Anthropologie: I rarely shop at Anthro because it’s above my price point. But now is the time to snag items on major markdown.. typically 30% off everything storewide! Why hello, my favorite Capri Blue Candle! They also have the cutest home and beauty gifts if you’re looking for holiday presents for a hostess, friend or family member.
H&M: You know my love for H&M runs deep and the fact that they even participate in Black Friday blows my mind.. I mean, their stuff is already so inexpensive. Black Friday basically makes a sweater FREE. Sure, I’ll take 5. Thanks.
So there you have it.. the stores I’ll be hitting up on Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday! How crazy that Black Friday is now basically a week long. Also, check back often for updates and restocked items this week. We will be keeping a close eye on hot ticket items so you can get to more important things.. like cooking and drinking with your friends and family this holiday!
