If you could only eat one food for the rest of your life, what would it be?
A: Mexican food! But if I had to get more specific I would say homemade tortilla chips and fresh guacamole…and a spicy marg to go with it 😉
H: Sushi.. it’s even the food I crave when hungover, which is just weird but I will own it.
What adventure would you like to do in the next year?
A: That’s a tough one since I have a 6 month old right now, but I’m hopeful for a family trip to Hawaii in 2022. We haven’t been since 2019 and we are itching to go back. I think flying to Hawaii with a one year old would be a serious adventure 😉 Professionally, I would like to attend a nutrition and dietetics conference in 2022 to get my continuing education units checked off while I dip my toes back in the professional world a bit and see how it feels.
H: Since we just finished the LEGO World Map, my kids have been asking where we can go next. We agreed that we will always do Hawaii every year but I grew up traveling all over the world and want that for my kids, too. I’d love to get them to the Bahamas, Africa, and Europe but we will likely wait until Parker is just a tad bit older to travel that far. I also want to take the boys up to Sonora Island in the Discovery Islands where my husband took me for my 30th birthday. It is a paradise for outdoor activities and something my kids would love so much (while mom hits the spa and mineral pools).
What is a bad habit you have?
A: I say “um” and “like” a lot and it’s annoying I’m sure.
H: I pick my cuticles until they bleed and it’s not cute.
What is your idea of the perfect night out?
A: My husband and I love to go to long, drawn out meals. It’s nice to eat out without kids and not be in a rush to leave the restaurant. We like to start with cocktails and a few apps, wine, entrees, dessert, after dinner drinks.
H: Mine is the same as Alix. Love a good meal and then hit a hotel lounge for a final final. With my husband or girlfriends 😉
If you could travel anywhere, where would it be?
A: I would absolutely love to go to Greece!
H: Africa 100%! We hope to take the boys when they hit high school and will appreciate and remember a trip like that.
What is the first thing you do when you get up in the morning?
A: I wish I could say workout, but that’s not happening right now. Honestly, the first thing is I take my thyroid medication then have to wait an hour to drink my coffee- the worst! Then I make Kins a bottle.
H: Brush my teeth FIRST. I can’t do anything until I do, not even coffee. Then make coffee.
Where did you grow up?
A: Mission Viejo, CA
H: Irvine, CA
Both SoCal girls who were suckered into a move to the PNW lol. Which brings us to our next question…
If you could live anywhere where would it be?
A: Honestly I’d love to live back in southern California only for the weather. I truly do not thrive in the cold and wish I lived somewhere consistently warm and sunny.
H: I used to say SoCal but my husband had the opportunity to move us back down a few years back and I was the one pushing us to stay. We have made lifelong friends who feel like family up here and my boys live so much of their life outdoors and I don’t think you can beat the adventure scene in the PNW. My family is in SoCal and a short flight away so we visit when we can or go on sunny vacations. So long story short, I’d live right where I am because we love our home and the roots we’ve built here. However, we will be pushing our kids to attend college outside of WA state and will likely follow the one who goes to the warmest place (fingers crossed for California lol).
Who is your celebrity crush?
A: Zac Efron. The Greatest Showman really sold me on that.
H: Justin Bieber, with or without the dreads I don’t discriminate. Dude is talented AF.
What is the best book you read in the last year?
A: hmmm that’s tough. I liked The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo, Girls with Bright Futures, Pretty Things, and Apples Never Falls.
H: The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo.. was unexpected and edgy.
Happy New Year!!
Cheers, H&A
