What are the must-have items to keep you warm on the ski slopes?
I would say you want to invest in quality pieces for your ski adventures as these are items you’ll have for years to come. We bought these helmets with goggles attached for everyone in the family and they’re so lightweight. I would ask Jackson multiple times on the chair lift if his head or ears were cold and he would always say, “NOPE!” So I can’t imagine a better endorsement than one from a 5 year old. As for your base layers, you’ll want something made with merino wool like this turtleneck and leggings. Lastly, your hands and feet are the first two things to go numb when skiing so socks and gloves are CRITICAL! FITS is a ski sock you can find on Amazon that are specifically designed for skiing. Lightweight but warm is key here. As for your hands, my husband and I have heated liner gloves that are 100% worth the investment.
Can you link your favorite spa accessories for when you’re taking off your makeup at the end of the day? Like your headband or hair clips and makeup towels?
These are my favorite items to bust out when I’m preparing for my at home spa day 🙂
Have you tried Vuori leggings or joggers yet?
Vuori always sells out so fast on Nordstrom’s website and I haven’t bought direct from their site yet but have a couple of friends who have purchased items from Vuori and LOVE them. It looks like there are some pieces on Nordy’s website right now, which I am surprised to even see! I love their joggers (these too) and think they look extremely comfortable and classic. If the Align joggers from Lulu didn’t work for you, these are a great option. FYI on the Align’s: You have to size up if you want a true “jogger” look. I am typically a 4 or 6 in leggings (depending upon how tight I want them) but a true 8 in the Align Joggers.
I need a pair of slippers with a hard bottom.. I am in and out of the house a lot and need something comfortable but durable.
I feel this. I am in and out of the house all the time but want to be comfy in my slippers so I have two pairs I rotate! I love the Uggs so much and have them in grey but they are fully stocked in black, which are so chic. But I just got this pair from Amazon and they are so FLUFFY and cute and inexpensive!
Is the Magic Spoon cereal I saw you post really worth the hype and $$? Do you also feed that to your kids?
I went to buy Magic Spoon cereal a while back and when I got to the check out part I told myself it was ridiculous to spend this much on cereal and didn’t buy it. Now that I’m pregnant and crave a bowl of cereal I justified it was worth the splurge to have a healthier option. I was shocked how good the cereal tasted and will honestly buy it again once I run out. I got a 4 pack (2 peanut butter, frosted, and cinnamon) and loved all the flavors. No, I absolutely do not share this cereal with Quinn. She is completely fine with her Honey Nut Cheerios, and honestly kids waste so much food I would cry if a bowl of this cereal went down the drain.
If pregnant, should we be doing prenatal specific workouts right away? Or after a certain point? TTC (trying to conceive) right now and just curious your thoughts. Thanks!
IMO (I’m not an expert- so obviously ask your doctor) but you can continue with the workouts you were doing pre pregnancy. Pregnancy is not the time to start something new, but if you were a runner, HIIT, bootcamper, etc pre pregnancy there is no reason you can’t continue that during pregnancy and obviously modify intensity and duration as needed based on how you feel. When I was TTC I personally toned down my cardio to 30-45 mins / day as part of my fertility plan, but that’s individual. Now that I’m further along in my second tri I’m finding I like to mix in more prenatal specific workouts so I know I’m doing core and strength training safely. I also mix in more gentle forms of movement like yoga and walking when pregnant because going hard doesn’t always feel great. Ultimately listen to your body, talk with your doctor, and don’t do anything that doesn’t feel right, but also know you can still get in hard workouts pregnant!
What do you think of CORE bars? Are the ingredients OK?
I hadn’t seen these before. Looks like the sugar is from dates, so that’s fine. The first ingredient is oats, so I would consider this a better bar for a pre-workout snack / quick breakfast option than post-workout bar because you want to consume higher protein (this bar only has 7grams) after a workout.
Heather – what was the advice to get rid of the rash on your neck after using too much retinol one night?
I use 1% Skinceuticals (maximum strength) on my face about 2x a week and never have an issue (occasional flaky skin but rarely since I worked up my tolerance) but my esthetician wants me using my retinol on my neck and chest as well. We want our neck and chest to reap the benefits just as much as our face, right?! So I recently starting working some retinol in with my moisturizer and applying it down my neck and it definitely got dry and red (mostly after working out and sweating). The recommendation was to leave it alone, don’t let warm water hit the dry spot in the shower, and apply Aquaphor (cuz it can solve most of life’s issues). Lastly, I will be purchasing the 0.5% retinol for my neck and chest going forward.
