Heather – how did you make the balloon arch for Alix’s sprinkle? Can you link the products please? Was it difficult to do?
It is much easier than it looks! You can order kits off Amazon or Etsy.. I got mine here! I purchased this balloon pump, which is a game changer. I think it comes with a tool to tie the balloons but I just did it myself with the help of my husband. The kit comes with the different sized balloons so I just blew them all up and strung them through the tape that the kit provided! Then it comes with balloon glue and you just fill in gaps once you adhere it to the wall. Watching YouTube videos helped, too! I did it the night before but think I could do it a day or two in advance next time because it’s still up!
Best one pieces for summer.. something that covers and flatters me but also isn’t matronly? I know, a big ask!
I got you.. not-your-mama’s one piece but you also don’t want something exposing your entire butt. I get it. Here are my current favorites:
Can you please link all of your favorite, inexpensive sunglasses you’re wearing right now?
Agolde shorts.. worth it? Sizing? Thinking about pulling the trigger.
I love the Agolde Parker shorts and find they are true to size. They stretch out a bit after a few wears to ordering your real size I think is the best option!
Alix- can you share your crab cake recipe?
My husband kind of free styles this recipe…I ask him to make me these for every special occasion and they are so dang good. Here’s an estimate of what he does:
Ingredients: (makes 6 crab cakes)
-1/2 lb crab
– 1/3 c diced red bell pepper
– 1.5-2 green onions sliced (white and green part)
-2 T mayo
– lemon zest from one lemon
-1 egg
-1/4 c bread crumbs
-1/2-1 tsp old bay seasoning
– 1 tsp worcestershire sauce
– salt and pepper
Directions:
– mix all ingredients together and form into 6 cakes
– cook in well oiled pan (we use avocado oil) about 4-5 minutes per side
Dipping sauces: ketchup + horseradish + little lemon juice and tartar sauce
Served with lemon slices
** tag us if you make these 😉
What are some good kid friendly summer recipes- preferably BBQ?
We make mini burgers/sliders a lot and Quinn eats these on a Hawaiian roll. My husband uses his Traegar a lot and makes ribs and pork and my daughter will usually eat this- go figure! Corn on the cob and hot dogs are always a hit with (most) kids. Chicken skewers are nice because they are in smaller bites for kids. You could also do a grilled pizza or flatbread. Add an easy sides like watermelon, pasta salad, or fruit salad and call it good!
I need ideas of things to do with my boys over the weekends! We are in a slump and basically go hiking or stay home.
I know it can be hard to fill the long days on the weekends. Heather’s boys are mostly in sports on the weekends then playing in the backyard. Not sure how old your kids are or where you live, but hopefully the weather is nicer and you can pack a picnic, eat outside, and play somewhere like the beach or a park. When I’m bored with Quinn I will sometimes print off a scavenger hunt like this off Pinterest and we will walk around the neighborhood. With summer coming up a lot of farms will start to have strawberry or blueberry picking, which is fun for kids then make something with it at home. The zoo, farmers markets, library, or local museum are ideas to fill your day. You can also take turns hosting playdates with friends, so you get a break and/or your kid are entertained.
I need water shoes / waterproof shoes for my kids this summer- any recs?
We LOVE Native, but have also found some great dupes if you don’t want to spend so much on kids shoes. These (Quinn loves these) or these are also good affordable options.
