How do you like your New Balance sneakers and are they true to size?
If you can get your hands on a pair you like, do it! They are comfortable, true to size, and look so cute with shorts, a dress, or jeans! Anthro has a bunch in stock right now!
Can you link the Target button down linen top you were wearing in stories the other day? Is it good quality?
It’s target so I wouldn’t say it’s the best quality in my closet but it’s inexpensive and can be thrown on with jeans or shorts to look put together this summer after a day by the pool!
I don’t want to spend a lot on a tennis skirt because 1. I don’t play tennis and I just want to wear it around town to make it look like I played tennis and 2. it’s trendy so I don’t want to overspend. Any cute ones?
Amazon is your best friend when it comes to fast fashion 😉 Here you go… love this one! This Zella one is really comfortable on too.
What podcasts are you listening to right now? I am running out of ideas!
We both love The Blonde Files, The Skinny Confidential, and The Genius Life. If you have any recs, leave them in the comments or on our Instagram post!
How do you make your iced matcha with the Pique packets? What are the benefits of the B-tox?
I have tried a lot of matchas and the Pique matcha is definitely worth the hype! I add the packet to about 1-2 oz hot water and use a bamboo whisk to mix it. I fill a cup full of ice and pour the matcha over it then add milk of choice. I like the Malk oat milk and I add 2-3 drop of stevia to sweeten it a touch. Delish! The B-tox is an electrolyte packet with hyaluronic acid and ceramides. It’s super hydrating, no added sugar, and tastes great IMO. I take it on days I need extra hydration and esp. when traveling!
Is dry brushing worth it?
I can’t speak to it personally because I don’t do it on a regular basis, but wish I did! I wrote this response about dry brushing on a health or hype blog post:
I wish I remembered to do this on a more regular basis. While there is not a lot of science to back up claims that dry brushing can detoxify and improve lymphatic flow… it’s a great exfoliator. This practice can definitely help improve dry and flaky skin. Using a brush like this on dry skin will increase blood flow and can improve circulation which can give skin a more youthful appearance and many claim can improve cellulite (dermatologists say cellulite is genetic and no cure, so take this claim with a grain of salt). Dry brushing can feel really invigorating because it stimulates the sensory nerves, so ideally best to do in the morning (BEFORE SHOWER- you want dry skin) and shower after to rinse off dead skin cells. It doesn’t hurt (don’t go too hard) and I actually like the way it feels. For more information and tips click here.
Can you share what you both eat and workout you do in a day?
Alix: It’s really different everyday, but here is an example. My alarm usually goes off around 5:15-5:30 am and I’ll do either a Peloton tread or bike workout, Orange Theory class, or Pure Barre class. I also usually go on a 3-4 mile walk with the dog and Kins at some point during the day. First thing is water while working out then Athletic Greens (I add fresh lemon and ACV) then coffee with marine collagen and a splash of half and half or Nut Pods creamer. Breakfast: eggs, fruit, and almond butter/avocado or oatmeal with protein powder, berries, and nut butter on top. Snack: nuts or Go Macro bar. Lunch: smoothie (I wrote a post on how to build the perfect smoothie here and I follow this strategy when making a smoothie) or egg/tuna salad with Simple Mills crackers. Snack: I’ll make a iced matcha latte (shared the recipe above) and sometimes also have something like cottage cheese and berries or apple slices and nut butter. Dinner: always different, but I made this recipe last night for example. I always need something sweet after dinner, so I will have something like a Justin’s cashew butter cup. I drink tea and my magnesium at night and really try not to eat past 6-7pm.
Heather: Like Alix, it changes daily! I workout 6 days a week but move every day. I rotate between the Peloton tread, bike, Orange Theory, pilates and Corepower Yoga.. it just depends on the day, my mood, how my body is feeling, etc. I also aim to get at least 12k steps a day whether that be hopping on the tread in the morning to drink my coffee and scroll insta or a walk around our neighborhood if the weather is nice enough. I can easily get 10k without an active walk just getting my kids ready for school lol. As for food, I have an Americano with a splash of half and half + marine collagen every morning along with 40 oz of water.. nothing special about my water intake except that I aim to drink about 100+oz a day. If I can get two Stanley’s down a day, I feel like I’m winning. I am not a breakfast person and typically sip on a second cup of iced coffee after drop off until lunch time.. the occasional bite of my kids bagel or croissant, too. Lunch for me is around 11:30 and I will either have a smoothie with added protein or load up a salad at Whole Foods. I also love tuna on Base Culture bread. My snacks are usually veggies/hummus or some toasty cheez its cuz they’re delicious and not one bit nutritious. For dinner, we aren’t fancy. It’s a protein (chicken, pork chop, steak, meatloaf) + a big salad and veggies or tacos or Banza pasta + Rao’s sauce + meatballs. For dessert, a bite of ice cream, salted caramel, or chocolate covered pretzels. I don’t do healthy dessert or I’ll just crave the real deal so I allow myself a bite or two of REAL, GOOD ice cream if I want it. I eat dinner at like 5 cuz my kids always want to eat early so I’ll have tea after dessert if I feel like I need a little something before bed or a bite of my husband’s popcorn. On the weekends, it looks similar + spicy margs and the occasional sushi takeout 🙂
Heather: was was a harder transition? 1:2 kids or 2:3 and why?
This is tough because I was in such different phases of life with each transition but I would say the harder one was going from 1 to 2 kids. I worked full time through my second pregnancy and Jackson, my oldest, had a nanny/daycare. When I gave birth to my second, I was on maternity leave and Jackson continued at school 5x a week. Jackson was just shy of 2 years old and he had a full blown school schedule to adhere to and I was driving downtown to drop him and pick him up with a newborn and it just felt like a lot at the time. I was SO lucky that Jack was still in daycare and I could bond with Cameron but we were shuttling in the car a good portion of the day and they were both so little. Going from 2 to 3 is a blur and I don’t remember it so I think it was easier lol. But it’s all hard, right?
Lip fillers and botox: where to begin?! Help a lady out!!
Find an esthetician you trust (aka ask around and get multiple recommendations) and make a consultation. Tell the professional what bothers you and what you’re trying to achieve and if they’re good, they’ll lead the way. I don’t tell my injector anything except to do what she thinks is right for my facial structure based on her education and I always leave happy.
Can you link casual summer dresses please!
I think I linked some in this happy hour post!
Cheers, A&H
