I need a pair of boots or booties to wear with a patterned dress for family photos.. any good neutral options?!
I love this pair and this pair! This is good budget friendly option.
Ok I saw on stories that you aren’t doing melatonin at night anymore and switched to magnesium. Why not melatonin? Do you give your kids anything?
So melatonin is considered safe for most. Some people have side effects like nausea, dizziness, headaches, etc. Long term side effects of chronic melatonin use is not well known. It can be linked to increased irritability, depression, anxiety, and interfere with other medications. There is a shift in thinking melatonin should be switched to a prescription medication so it’s more tightly regulated and studied. If you take it regularly it might be worth a convo with your doctor.
I take a magnesium, L- theanine , CBD combo at night and sleep like a rock 😉
I used to give Quinn melatonin frequently. She started to ask for it and said she couldn’t go to bed without it. RED FLAG. I was also learning more about how melatonin was not great for kids in regards to puberty. Studies have shown long-term use of melatonin in kids might delay their sexual maturation. Here is a good article that explains it. I have switched to giving her these gummies if she’s super hyper before bed. She’s usually so tired from school and after school activities that she doesn’t need anything. I will likely still use melatonin with her as needed when traveling.
I want a new jogger set for cooler mornings. Any ones you love?
We both have and love these joggers with this 1/2 zip. I just ordered the faded blue.
Alix can you link all of your favorite crops you’ve purchased?
Here are my recent crops/sports bras I’ve purchase I’m loving:
I need school drop off outfit inspo.. I want to look semi-put together.
I am typically in a pair of joggers or tailored sweats with a pullover, sneaks, hat and glasses. Honestly, the moms I am friends with are all a hot mess in the morning too haha.. anyone too polished and I am concerned 😉 If you muster up a pair of jeans, you’re my hero. But around here, we keep it casual. Don’t overthink your drop off outfit.. leggings and a cute sweatshirt and you’re golden.
I am in the market for a new YSL handbag.. what are your favorites?
Can’t go wrong with YSL but my recommendation is to always go classic and I am partial to leather. Options I love:
Are we into Dr. Martens boots for fall?
I (Heather and I know Alix feels the same) am not a Dr. Martens girl.. they are just too clunky in my opinion and they are heavy AF. I am much more into boots like these for fall:
I’m totally inspired by your new PE career Alix! I was just out walking taking a break from my new corporate job and realizing I really want to find a career that involved movement, wellness, and outdoors. I ponder teaching Pure Barre while also tapping into the nutrition space, but wondering if you had any suggestions on jobs like the ones you are doing to fill that void. Life is too short to not enjoy what you are doing, right? Thanks in advance for your thoughts.
Aww thank you! Being a Registered Dietitian I’ve always been in the wellness space and really do love it. I haven’t always had active jobs, but realized I prefer not to be sitting at a desk all day. I was a Pure Barre instructor for awhile before I got pregnant with Quinn. I would teach the 6am classes then head to my private practice after, so there is a way to squeeze it in to fill that void without totally switching careers if that works with your schedule. Personally I realized I did not like teaching fitness classes as much as I enjoyed taking them. Pure Barre was just very corporate- I might have enjoyed teaching spin at a fun studio or something better. Maybe one day 😉
Teaching PE isn’t as easy as I think I thought it would be, but it’s pushing me outside of my comfort zone and allowing me to be active and motivate kids to be active as well.
Depending on your background there are a lot of directions you can go within the wellness space. I’ve wanted to become a certified personal trainer and was seriously looking into that before I got pregnant with Kinsley. You could look into becoming a group fitness instructor or a train in program like Fit4Mom . You can go back to school for nutrition/health coach program. I’ve looked into teaching corporate wellness program/wellness coordinator. Many gyms/spas have a nutritionist on site. I mean I’ve even thought a mailman would be great…listen to podcasts and get a ton of steps while delivering mail lol. Oh and I thought a dog walker would be great.
