Heather what did you naturopath say about taking zinc to help Botox last longer?
I asked my injector and my naturopath and they both were like, “Yep, LOVE zinc!” And it can’t really hurt you. There is already some Zinc in Athletic Greens as well as Nutrafol but I am taking 50 mg 4 days prior to my injections but not after that. Too much zinc can give you tummy issues and I don’t need that. I have no clue if it will prolong my Botox results but I’m willing to try! Will keep you posted!
How do you feel about the fabric on the Naghedi bag? Some reviews say the material feels cheap and plastic like for the price point.
I couldn’t disagree more with that review.. we both love our bags so much! Heather has large in the mink color and Alix has the medium in black and the fabric is beautiful.
Have you guys had BBL before? How was the pain? Worth the $$?
We’ve both only had IPL, which is essentially the same thing as BBL just branded differently. Worth the pain and money.. however, our esthetician offers nitrous oxide while doing the laser so the pain level is about a 3 or 4. It just makes you less reactive to the zap ya know? We both spent our childhood in the SoCal sun and so we are now working hard to reverse years of skin damage on our face and chest. We also both love microneedling for collagen production and hydra facials in between the more intense treatments.
I know bars aren’t the healthiest choice, but I like to have some on hand for backup. What should you look for in a bar and what ones do you recommend?
Yeah bars tend to have a lot of extra “stuff” thrown in them. I look at ingredients, total protein, and added sugar mostly when choosing a bar. I want AT LEAST 5-10 grams of protein. like these BTR bars (and will have this choc. flavor for dessert sometimes). I like to avoid added sugar, artificial flavors and sugar alcohols. There are so many bars on the market these days and I honestly have not reviewed most of them. If I’m in a pinch I’ll reach for an Rx or Lara bar mostly because the ingredient list is so simple. Perfect bars are ok (added sugar a little high), Go Macro are meh.
If you can, it’s pretty easy to make your own. I just made these and took me about 10 minutes. Also opting for a high protein snack is a better option. You’ll feel more satisfied with a more whole form/source of protein vs. a highly processed source like a lot of bars.
Do Anine Bing sweatshirts ever go on sale? I want to buy one, but wondering if I should wait for a sale. Can you link any you like/or sale options?
They do go on sale.. often on Shopbop, Revolve, and Anine’s actual website. We both have this sweatshirt and love it. We love all of the neutral and simple sweatshirts.. the ones with more design aren’t as much our speed. I (Heather) had a bunch of sweatshirts I ended up selling on Poshmark because I reach for the hooded version the most.
Alix can you link all the snack recipes you were making over the weekend? Are they good?
Protein bars (highly rec), cookie baked oatmeal (so good fresh out of the oven, but didn’t freeze well), and yogurt bark (the kids loved!) I made mine with frozen raspberries and Purely Elizabeth chocolate granola.
What’s your take on PFAS in our workout clothes and sparkling water? I know you’ve talked about it before but does it make you change what you drink or wear?
OK- there was a study released about PFAS in bottled water (including sparkling water). Here is a good summary about what PFAS are and why they can be dangerous. We want to be aware of how much exposure we have to these chemicals (via food packaging, drinking water, pots/pans, household products, etc) because these chemicals can build up in our bodies over time and cause health problems. This was an area I paid attention to when I was trying to get pregnant with Kinsley and I did my best to clean up a lot of the household products I had in the house. I wrote this post all about the swaps I made. I continue to try and be mindful when I can, but it’s just not realistic to do all the things all the time.
Anyways, I think this study is just more information you can use to asses your total exposure to these chemicals. If you’re someone who drinks 6 La Croix or Topo Chico a day then maybe it’s wise to cut back or swap for a sparkling water with a lower rating. If you abolutely cannot live without 1-2 cans of Bubly a week, it’s probably not the end of the world.
I just bought LMNT and it’s so salty! Why is this good for me again and how much water do you add it to?
It is! I actually wrote them an email complaining about the taste when I first tried it. I’ve grown to love and crave the taste and flavor now. Make sure you’re mixing it in about 30-40oz of water or try using 1/2 packet and work your way up to tolerating the flavor.
LMNT is an electrolyte powder without any added sugar. You do not necessarily need to take electrolytes daily, but should take them when you’re sweating a lot (sauna, intense exercise, etc), sick/unwell and losing fluids via diarrhea or vomiting. Can also be helpful when traveling to help stay hydrated.
What vegan protein powder do you like? Or one that doesn’t have whey?
I use this protein powder which is $$$ but literally has 3 ingredients (beef protein isolate, vanilla bean powder, and monk fruit extract) and the cleanest on the market and they also just came out with a vegan powder as well. I’ve also used Vega, Tone it Up, Orgain, and Garden of Life in the past.
Do you guys think Athletic Greens and is worth the cost?
We both love our AG1 in the morning on an empty stomach and add ice + lemon (sometimes apple cider vinegar) to it. We could easily drink it on it’s own but over ice makes it super tolerable. We like to chug it.. cuz then we move on to our much awaited coffee 🙂 100% worth the cost because it takes the place of so many other supplements were taking in its place.
Can you guys do a sauna post? Why you got the one’s you got?!
Yes! We both have dry saunas and can do a whole post on it one day! Heather’s linked here (which is hard wired) and Alix’s is linked here (which is meant for outdoors).
Cheers! A&H
