I’m curious- isn’t LMNT a lot of sodium? 1 gram sounds like too much?
There is a lot of misinofrmation and dated information out there about sodium. The source of sodium matters and there are a lot of benefits to getting adequate sodium in the diet because it is an essential mineral. Sodium consumed in the modern diet (highly processed foods and packaged foods) is the problem not the mineral itself. If you’re active and/or consume a very “clean” diet you might not be getting enough minerals like sodium. LMNT has a lot of information on their website if you’re curious to read up on the science to back up the 1 gram of sodium packets ;). My favorite flavors are watermelon, citrus salt, and orange salt, but my new favorite is mango chili. Necessary for sweaty summer workouts 😉
Do you habit track? If so, do you have a good habit tracker you like and what are the habits you track? Thanks for the inspo!
We don’t, but this one looks great. You can customize and add in your own habits to track.
We have both added in healthy habits over time; that it is just part of our routine. We have slowly added in things like AG1 every monring, refilling our Stanly’s 3+ times a day, lift weights, supplements, getting enough sleep, steps, etc. into our days so we don’t feel like we need to track it necessarily. But when adding in new habits it can be helpful to see it in writing and have reminders, so using a habit tracker (linked above) is a wonderful tool! After a while you likely won’t need to track it as it will become part of your normal routine.
If we feel like things are slipping like water or workouts- we will team up and motivate eachother with a weekly challenge to get back on track.
Other posts that might give you inspo for habit goals to work on: Heather’s night routine, Alix’s supplement routine, Alix’s morning routine, no added sugar meal plan.
Can you give us your best cooler bag rec? Is Yeti really the best one?
I (H) don’t have a Yeti one and don’t think spending that much is completely necessary. I have ones like these:
(A) we have this one and honestly I don’t think it’s worth the hype. IMO it’s small inside- really doesn’t fit a lot and hard to neatly organize. Their wheeled coolers seem like the better way to go if you want to stick with Yeti.
I need sunglasses and athletic shorts for my husband (since Father’s Day is coming up!).. what do your husbands wear?
I appreciate my husband in a classic Rayban Wayfarer or aviator. And he would tell you his favorite athletic shorts are by Vuori.
Best swimsuits and durable beach bags for days with the kids?
This is both of our favorite suit for heading to the beach/pool with the kids.. and here is what I carry to the beach/pool (machine washable). I have the extra large version with my initials and then I have smaller versions for each of the boys with their names on it (also great for camps in the summer).
I’m looking for counter/bar stools for my neutral kitchen but don’t want to spend a boat load. Any recs?
I just saw these and think they’d be perfect especially with kids because of the leather.
Longer bike shorts are not flattering on my shorter frame. Any recommendation for shorter bike shorts (maybe 3-4 inch)?
Here are my favorite and most flattering bike shorts:
Alix- are you going to teach PE again next year?
No I’m not. For a variety of reasons I won’t be returning, but I did learn a lot from that experience. Props to all teachers out there- it’s no joke. I’ve missed nutrition work and decided to go back into that next school year 😉
xx, Alix and Heather
