Alix what are your thoughts on the WHO’s warning of aspartame and it’s link to causing cancer?
I’ve had so many people message me about this and if they can still drink their Diet Coke. Here’s the deal….you’re likely not drinking Diet Coke because you think it’s healthy. You’re not ditching your green smoothie for a Diet Coke. So yes, it’s ideal not to consume any artificial sweeteners of course. However, for a diabetic or someone managing their sugar/calorie intake or weight it can be a helpful replacement to regular soda if drinking regular soda is an issue.
Aspartame is the chemical of concern. It’s not just in Diet Coke. It’s found in many sugar free processed or packages foods. It’s also marketed under the names Equal or AminoSweet, so read your labels. Like most things the position is in the dose. It really depends on how many milligrams of aspartame you’re having a day…how many sugar free foods you’re consuming on a daily basis.
WHO says the limit of aspartame consumption a day is an upper limit of 40 mg/kg of body weight. A can of Diet Coke contains 200-300 mg of aspartame. So let’s do some math. An adult weighing 70kg (155 lbs) would need to consume more than 9–14 cans per day to exceed the acceptable daily intake, assuming no other intake from other food sources. All this to say that your one occasional diet drink is safe according to these guidelines.
What daily SPF do you wear on your face?
Always this one! My esthetician says to always wear a mineral SPF for extra protection (and reapply every 30 minutes to hour depending on sun exposure). And then my gf just got me this SPF compact that I treat at makeup on top of the mineral SPF and I love it.
What headphones do you wear to listen to books/podcasts on walks?
We both have these. They can get hot in summer months if you’re walking outside but they don’t slip like AirPods.
Are the Hermes Oran sandal worth it and do they run TTS?
I have the dupes, babe 😉 I have heard that the real ones are worth it and they stretch a LITTLE.
I am going to Cabo in late September for a wedding and need outfits. Help!
My suggestion is order a ton of dresses off Revolve and return the ones that don’t work.. they have the best return policy and make it seamless. Here’s some inspo:
How did you find your doctors who work on hormones with you?
Word of mouth! Do your research, though and find someone you trust. We both love the women we work with. Heather goes to Dr. Ashley Cooper with Waterfront Wellness in Bellevue and she is extremely thorough, sweet, approachable, and knowledgeable.

Can you tell me more about dermaplaning?
You mean shaving your face? 1. Don’t do it yourself. Let a professional do it otherwise you run the risk of ingrown hairs and rashes. 2. It’s amazing haha! We get dermaplaned when we get facials and it just makes your products apply smoother and deeper. And makeup goes on flawlessly. Big fans over here.
What is the difference between whey protein and pea protein? Or whey vs. plant protein? The options are overwhelming! What should I be picking?
Both are complete proteins which mean they contain all 9 amino acids and they both provide about the same amount of protein per serving. Whey protein has a higher bioavailability than pea protein which means your body absorbs more of the amino acids. This means you’d have to theoretically consume more of the pea protein to get as much of the amino acids as you would in whey. Both can provide health benefits, but unless you have a sensitivity to milk I would recommend whey. I like this and this one.
