I have a school auction that is casino night theme. Can you please link some recommendations?
I’d do a sequin dress or jumpsuit for this:
I’m headed somewhere warm for spring break. Any hat recommendations? Also how do you travel with a big hat without it getting bent or ruined?
I just wear the hat or carry it on and put it in the overhead compartment after everyone has put their bags in and they’re about to shut it! Or you can hook it to your carry on with this attachment. Here are my faves:
How long before diet/lifestyle/exercise changes are visible? It’s so slow and discouraging.
It really depends. A few things I would talk to you about if we were in session and you asked me this. What are you using to gauge results? Just the scale? If you’re building muscle then the scale might not be the best indication of change. I would ask yourself how you feel phsyically, mentally, emotionally from making these changes. Even if the scale isn’t changing as quickly as you’d like there may be way more important changes going on with your mood, energy, sleep, etc. Find other ways to track progress. Are you eating more than you realize, eating too little, are your hormones causing resistance (get labs some labs drawn to make sure things are balanced), sleeping enough, stress management, etc. So many factors could be causing resistance. If everything is in check then typically you should start to see some change within 2-3 months depending on your goals. I also think a DEXA scan is the better to track progress over the scale because it tells your body fat %. Hard to be patient but staying consistent with your habits is key!
Do you guys still take collagen? Are there really any benefits?
We both do! I (Alix) have been taking it consistently for almost 8 years. I wrote a post all about potential benefits of collagen.
What are your guys workout routine is for lifting weights. I’m finding all the routines online overwhelming.
We both love the Peloton platform for workouts. They have really great strength classes and programs you can follow if you prefer. We have also used the Burn app for strength training that gives you a weekly workout schedule based on your fitness goals.
Alix’s current routine: 3-4 days strength training (1 lower body + 1 upper body + 1 full body + pilates or another full body) HIIT training 1-2 x week. I also add in walks or hikes daily and try to get in at least 12,000 steps a day.
Do you have a holy grail product you use to conceal the occasional zit? HALP!
First and foremost get a Hero patch on it STAT, preferably overnight. And then the next product I’d use if going out and trying to conceal it would be this blemish stick because it has active ingredients to fight the acne plus it covers it. Even my husband uses this on occasion and swears by it.
I’m trying to simplify my closet/wardrobe. What are your spring staples?
Spring capsule wardrobe should look a little something like this:
Loved your post about turning 40 and appointments you have scheduled for your health. What about in your 30’s and after a baby- what appointments would you recommend?
Thanks. Here is that post for reference. I would say the appointments are similar in your 30’s postpartum because the goal is balancing hormones. I would recommend waiting until you’re about 6 months pp and not breast feeding anymore before getting them checked. If your OB is savvy in ordering hormone labs and reviewing them with you then make an appointment with them. If not, then try finding a ND or women’s health specialist MD in your area that can work with you. I also really liked working with an acupuncturist in my 30’s to balance my hormones and might look into that again.
