What would you wear to a college graduation?
I’d wear a nice pair of slacks in white, cream or black with a button down cardigan or polo and a sweater over my shoulders! If it’s going to be warm, a sundress with sweater or jean jacket would be appropriate as well.
I want a nice bag that’s not doesn’t have any big labels on it for travel (so fits a lot of stuff). Any recs?
We both love our Naghedi bags (I like the large size) and they are amazing travel bags (and even good for the pool). I hadn’t seen this Naghedi before and it’s the actual perfefct travel bag. Lastly, this carryall is gorgeous too.
I just started working full time, for the first time in 5 years. Now that my kids are school age, and have a ton of extracurriculars, I’m having trouble squeezing in my “maintenance”/ self care appointments. Just curious, how often do you get your hair cut/colored, eyebrows threaded, waxing, mani/pedi, facials, micro needling, and IPL? My husband has been trying to give me time on weekends, but I miss so much if I schedule appointments only on weekends. Was thinking maybe I need to cut some things out, or go less frequently.
Heather: I have cut back on a lot of self care appointments and really only get my nails done every 3 weeks and a facial (this includes microneedling/lasers/hydrafacial) once every few months! I am no longer coloring my hair but will get it trimmed every 3-4 months to keep the ends healthy! If I’m getting a massage, it’s for a special occasion typically or on vacation! IPL I now only do as maintenance after the summer months but do my best to really protect my skin year round with SPF and hats. We are so busy on the weekends with sports so I agree with you about missing things you want to be present for. When I was working full time after kids, I found that once I established that trust with my boss and within my position I was able to sneak away for a nail appt during my lunch break or whatnot. I just found salons near my office that I could get to quickly!
Alix: I get my hair cut and colored every 3 months and schedule the appointment for a Friday afternoon. My husband knows I’ll be gone like 4 hours and while it’s not ideal it doesn’t take up any weekend time. Facials I don’t get on a regular basis either right now. Every few months I’ll schedule one during nap time and when my husband is working from home. I’ve stopped getting my nails done unless I’m going on a trip. I get a pedicure every 4-5 weeks and get gel so it lasts longer. Usually I’ll bring Quinn with me and we will make an afternoon out of it. For my hands I’ve started to use these press on nails and I really like them. I honestly hate getting manicures and feel like it just takes too long and gel manicures don’t last more than 2 weeks on me. The press on nails save time and money.
Alix – can you link the stripped dress you wore in Palm Springs?
Linked here at such a good price point and so comfy!
Alix – I missed the ARMA colostrom link on Instagram stories. What did it say about the research?
Colostrom might be the trendiest supplement on IG right now. All these influencers with zero credentials tauting it for all these benefits and there is almost no scienctic research to back up any of this companies health claims. I’m actually getting pretty tired of seeing influencers with no nutrition or medical background shilling these supplements.
Yes, colostrum has a high concentration of nutrients and beneficial for newborn babies and their undeveloped digestive tract. Very very little human trials. No evidence to show any benefit for hair, skin, nails.
The most promising benefits for supplementing colostrum may be for someone with the flu, diarrhea symptoms/IBS, or those immunocompromised. The research on bovine colostrum just isn’t there yet to support taking it daily for immunity or gut health claims.
Can you link the straight pair of light wash jeans you both have?
These are the jeans I think look good on everyone! I got Alix to try them and they look great.
How are the Metcons for running? I need something for cardio and weights. Do you change shoes in the middle of a workout?
Metcons are my go to for strength training. They are fine for walk, but I wouldn’t walk or run long distance in them because they are a flat shoe without a lot of support. I like my ON shoes for long walks and runs because they are so supportive and comfortable. If I’m doing a workout that is both strength training and running I will wear my Nike Pegasus.
I just purchased creatine and excited to try it! Did you talk about any changes you’ve seen from it yet?
Yay! Creatine is one of, if not the most, studied and safest supplements. It’s also relatively inexpensive, so for me it’s a win win. I’ve been taking it for almost a year now and what I notice the most is my recovery. I feel like I have more energy when strength training and recovery better after. I also think it’s improved my lean body mass per my DEXA scan results. There is also a lot of research to support its benefits in cognition and brain health. It’s a super low risk, high reward supplement esp. for women getting into their 40’s. I personally take Kion creatine.
