What pre-workout drink do you take? I don’t like the way energy drinks make me feel and need an alternative.
I stopped taking pre-workout powders a while ago because I did not like the way they made me feel. I have a pretty high tolerance for caffeine, but for whatever reason/ingredient added to pre-workout powders and energy drinks I don’t have a great reaction to them.
I typically workout first thing in the morning and either have a this canned protein coffee or make my own pre-workout. My recipe: pull 2 shots espresso and refrigerate overnight in glass jar. In the morning I’ll add 1 cup sweetened oat milk for carbohydrates (I don’t really care about seed oils so don’t come at me) and 1 scoop protein powder.
What’s the meal service you’re using, Alix? Do you like it so far?
I’m using Marley Spoon. I had never heard of this meal service before, but my girlfriend I went to Miraval with uses it and raved about their recipes. I’ve been in such a meal inspo/cooking rut that I just appreciate being able to choose 2-3 recipes and have them delivered. This was our first week and I liked the 3 recipes we got!
I will likely pause over the summer because we will be BBQing more, but I really like this service for when I’m feeling burnt out, but don’t want to eat out/take out. Bonus, my husband typically always helps me make these. He likes cooking and there is an easy to follow recipe sheet, so we will divide and conquer which makes it even easier.
Heather, can you link the pair of jeans you were wearing in Instagram stories this week?
They’re old Zara but these look identical.
What’s the name of the head spa you like in Bellevue?
For an inexpensive (but still very relaxing) option, Royal Lavender Nails and Spa in Bellevue is great. If you want the luxe experience (they do the full scalp analysis and use high end products with a real blow out at the end), try Joon by Joe Bae in Bellevue. My girlfriend just went and said it’s a 10/10 experience so I have that on my list to try at the end of the summer when my scalp will need a good scrub.
Father’s Day gift ideas? AKA the hardest holiday to shop for ever!
Got my husband the Meta AI Ray-Ban’s cuz he’s a tech nerd but here are some other ideas: Yeti cooler backpack (I like this color combo), a Blackstone griddle (we have this at our house in Wisconsin and use it daily for breakfast and dinner) or a Theragun.
If you had to pick one pair of Nike’s to buy right now, what would they be?
Rude I can’t pick just one because there are some really good color combos out there right now. I have two pairs I’d pick from: these (in any color) or these (I just love this color combo)
What electrolyte supplement are we drinking for summer?
Disclaimer: you don’t need an electrolyte supplement. It can be a helpful replacement if you’re getting super sweaty during a workout >60+ minutes, sauna, etc. or I can sometimes find it helpful while traveling or when feeling sick. I personally have stuck with LMNT and they just dropped a lemonade flavor that I can’t wait for Amazon to deliver this weekend. My friend just tried Water Boy and said the strawberry lemonade flavor was good!
I think you linked a hard boiled egg maker a while back…can you link it again please? Trying to add more eggs into my diet for protein.
Here! I love mine and use it at least weekly to meal prep hard boiled eggs. It also makes other types of eggs, but I only use for the hard boiled option.
xx, A + H
