Have you guys heard of Moon Juice? My GF just moved back from LA and is raving about them-not sure which to order?!
Moon Juice has a lot of really fun products, but sadly I haven’t tried them yet. They primarily focus on selling adaptogens which they define as “superherbs and supermushrooms that help expand your body’s capacity to handle mental, physical and emotional stress”. I’ve tried adaptogens ashwagandha, rhodiola and reishi from other brands and really like adding them to my coffee or smoothies for an extra boost. I notice a lot of their products have Stevia so if that is something you avoid check the ingredients on their website before buying. I’ve heard great things about their products and I’d love to try brain dust, night beauty, and power dust. Maybe Santa will bring me some 🙂
Heather: Do you have a birth plan and did you have one with your other births?
I’ve always had the mentality that “no birth plan is my birth plan” and I think my OB appreciates that about me 😉 I mean, I have preferences.. I would prefer to deliver vaginally. I’m open to an epidural (and by open I mean give me the freaking drugs). Get the baby out safely and keep me alive. That’s always been my birth plan. Of course, if something goes “wrong” and I need to have a c section, then do it. Just get him out. I’ve delivered both my boys vaginally and I’m hopeful all will go according to “plan” again this time around.. but you never know. My preference is that my water breaks, I get pitocin to start active labor, get my epidural, rest, then push for 5 minutes and get him out.. that’s what happened with Cam and it was BLISSFUL. Easy peasy lemon squeezy. But now that I’ve written that down and said it out loud, it’s all gonna go to hell in a hand basket. Stay tuned 🙂
I have holiday family pictures in a few weeks…any advice on how to dress my 6 month old girl and coordinate outfits?
Keep it neutral, clean and classic.. always my motto! Don’t mix too many colors or prints.. and if you go with color, stick to the same color family. Also, you and your significant other can be in neutrals while your daughter is in something a little more snazzy since people are looking at her in the pictures.. not you.. let’s be honest. My favorite place to shop for kids clothes: Zara, Gap, Old Navy and Nordstrom. Here’s some inspo for her outfit:
My milk supply isn’t keeping up with the demands of my little one and I’m thinking I need to add in formula. Any advice on what brands are best and how to start supplementing?
Alix: No shame in needing to supplement or switch to formula. I had to start adding formula somewhat early… my supply dipped because I was pumping more and stressed with our move. I felt guilty and insecure when I busted out formula to feed Quinn and felt like I needed to explain why. No need to explain why or feel guilt/shame and I wish I had been more confident about this back then.
I started by giving her 2 oz amounts to supplement her breastmilk bottles and increased the amount as needed. We used this Earth’s Best formula and it worked well for Quinn.
Heather: Here’s what I’ll say.. I was so dead set on exclusively breastfeeding Jackson and felt mom guilt/shame for even thinking about introducing formula that he suffered for it. He was starving because I couldn’t keep up but as a first time mom, I thought it was normal. He was a VERY difficult baby and now I know why.. kid wanted MILK.. in any shape or form. So with Cam, I absolutely learned my lesson and we supplemented with formula on day 5 after he was born because I have just never had a strong milk supply. I can eat all the cookies, bars, granola, pump til I’m blue in the face and my milk is droplets compared to most. Frustrating? Yes. But that’s why there is formula.. for people like me.
One of my girlfriends did some extensive research on baby formula and Baby’s Only came out on top as the closest thing to breastmilk but it’s expensive AF. Jackson got Baby’s Only for a period of time until I realized WE POOR lol. I switched to Earth’s Best like Alix linked above and that’s what I have in the pantry now for when Parker gets here. However, after about 6 months, I switched to Gerber Good Start and never looked back.. and my kids adapted to all of them.. no issues.
Have you guys used Poshmark to buy or sell clothes? I’m thinking of trying to sell stuff on there, but not sure how it works.
Alix: Yes! I’ve sold a lot of stuff on Poshmark, but have slowed down recently on my selling. I’ve had a good experience overall and noticed jewelry (I sold a lot of Stella & Dot) and Lululemon (tanks, sports bras, headbands, sweatshirts, and totes) sold fast! People also bought sunglasses and bags quickly. Things like jeans, sweaters, and blouses don’t sell as quickly in my experience. Be prepared to have to print off shipping labels quickly and get your sale nicely packaged and in the mail ASAP. I wasn’t as thrilled with my buying experience though. I got a pair of Carbon 38 leggings that said NWOT but clearly weren’t new and didn’t fit well. I probably could have sent back, but was just over it. Use caution when making purchases on there.
Heather: Yep.. and I agree with everything Alix said above. I had the most luck with jewelry and Lululemon.. the other stuff doesn’t really sell.
Do you have any good healthy Thanksgiving recipes? I’m in charge of bringing a few sides/apps and wanting to try and make some healthier options.
I’ve been looking for some good “healthified” recipes myself. I made these mini spiralized sweet potato casseroles one year and they were a hit. This honey pumpkin cornbread sounds so good. This would be a fun and lighter app. This butternut squash and quinoa recipe sounds good. This, this, or this are all yummy fall sounding salads. This is a “lower sugar” sweet potato casserole recipe I saw in the new Cooking Light mag…actually their holiday special magazine out right now has a ton of great recipes- might be worth picking up. However, a lot of their recipes call for canola oil, so I would recommend subbing in olive or avocado oil.
Alix: what is the name of the green nail polish you posted in stories?
CND Serene Green I’ve been looking for a long time for the perfect green and this.is.it!!! OPI’s Here Today Aragon Tomorrow is another green goody. If you’re not a shellac person and want something more natural this Pacifica polish is a good option!
