What are some fun and festive activities you can do with toddlers?
We plan to do all the things. We want to decorate pre-made gingerbread houses (we found ours at Home Goods) and bake/decorate holiday cookies with the kids. Our neighborhood has a lot of fun streets to take your kids to see Christmas lights.. so why not load them up in the wagon, pour yourself a bevy and stroll the streets!? If you’re local to Seattle, you can take the kids downtown to visit Santa at Nordstrom (make an appt with the big man), go to the Sheraton to see the gingerbread village, or head to Bellevue for Snowflake Lane. I am sure lots of major cities have tons of kid friendly activities but if not, you could always try and take your toddler to the movies. I plan to take Jackson to see the Grinch today and it will be his first movie.. wish us luck!
How are you both keeping your skin moist (gross word) in these dry months?
Alix: I’m noticing my lips getting really dry so I have been using this lip sleep mask Heather wrote about in her November favorites post this week and love it! I’m also using a little more face oil, but have to be cautious because my skin is sensitive. I like this Drunk Elephant marula face oil during the day and this oil at night. I also find this Drunk Elephant moisturizer combined with this is super hydrating at night. I’m also doing regular facials every 4-5 weeks which can help with hydration and also drinking as much water as possible! For the rest of my body I try to dry brush 1-2 x week and and moisturize after and have all the hand lotion and lip balm in my purse and car.
Heather: I basically do the same thing as Alix..I use the lip sleep mask daily and apply a ton of oil to my skin, including my face because it can handle it. You don’t need fancy oils.. I got this one (Skinny Confidential tested and approved) off of Amazon and mix it in with my DE moisturizer.I also have a dry brush for the shower but I haven’t used it yet.. need to start! I’m not great about applying lotion to the rest of my body because I haven’t found a lotion I love.. any suggestions? Preferably drug store brand.
What supplements do you both take?
Alix: I take this or this probiotic, this Omega 3, and Vitamin D3 daily. I just started this B complex. I take this elderberry supplement and vitamin C if I feel like I’m getting sick.
Heather: See my post here about the vitamins I take!
Any good holiday baking ideas?
I weirdly have not been in the mood to bake this holiday season…not sure why?? Buuuuut this, this, and this recipe all sound fabulous and I might try! I also really want to make these cinnamon rolls for Christmas morning 🙂
I need to get my kid’s teachers holiday gifts…any good gift ideas?
Heather: When in doubt, stick to gift cards to coffee or some local shopping places. If you know the teacher well enough, you could try and get something more personalized like a cute pair of mittens and scarf for the holiday season or a gorgeous throw blanket. Check out Nordstrom’s holiday gift guides for Inspo!
Alix: This is the first year I’m having to get teacher gifts and I’m most likely getting them these cute Anthro mugs with a Starbucks gift card. You also can’t go wrong with an Anthro candle like this!
Do you have any recommendation for best family photographers in the Seattle are?
Alix: We have used this, and this family photographer and had a good experience with both.
Heather: I have loved all of the family photographers we have used in Seattle. This gal is a wedding photographer but we have used her for fam photos and loved them when we wanted something shot outside. We most recently used Teri from Little Louisa Photography as she specializes in family sessions. She doesn’t do posed shots.. everything is caught naturally, which is what we needed as a family of 5. And she came to our house to shoot, which was fabulous.
What is this new Revlon blow dryer/hair brush you posted in stories? I need more information…does it spin??
I bought this new hair dryer by Revlon from Target last weekend because I saw it posted on Instagram and was intrigued. No it doesn’t spin, but I (Alix) totally suck at giving myself a blow out and I swear this helped. I’ve only used it once so far and it definitely gave me more volume. I let it air dry a little before using and it dried my hair super fast. So, I would recommend letting it air dry a bit or towel dry is before using. I have this hair dryer I love, but will be using my new one more when need a quick blow out with volume.
