I am thinking about (finally) putting my toddler in daycare and I need your recommendations. I want to know which program is best (full time vs. part time?)
Alix: Since I’m home and Quinn still naps around 1pm a part time program works really well for us. She turned 2 last August (2-2.5 is the minimum age for a lot of the little “school” programs around us) and I had her signed up t start in the Fall. Currently she goes 2 days a week/ 4 hours a day. She eats lunch at her school then come homes to nap. Next fall she will be going 3 days a week for half days.
It think a personal preference for everyone is what works best for their child and family. Right now part-time works well for us. She has flourished in a school like environment and I get a few hours for myself so it’s a win win, but I don’t need full day coverage. Part-time vs. full-time really depends on the programs available in your area, what feels like a good fit for you and your child, and how much coverage you’re needing.
Heather: Jackson started “school” at 2.5 and before that, he was in a full time daycare setting since I was working. After I had Cameron, I decided to stay home with the boys and Jackson started a half day program 5x a week. This also allowed me to bond with my second born while the oldest was at school. And my situation is similar to what Alix described above.. I don’t need full time care since I am no longer working and the boys take a nap in the afternoon. Starting in the fall, Cameron will also go to this same school for half-days, which gives me time to bond with Parker. Part-time care has always been the best option for us.. it gives me time to get appointments and errands done and it is WAY less expensive than full-time care. I also like it because after their naps, it’s just the four of us (Jack, Cam and Park) and we have our lazy, fun afternoons to just hang and we don’t have to get in the car to pick someone up from school.
Heather- can you link the blue light glasses you posted on stories? I need some but no idea where to find a good pair.
Yes! The brand is The Book Club and style is Twelve Hungry Bens.. and they’re only $30. Honestly, I have noticed a difference after wearing them and working on my computer all afternoon. My eyes aren’t nearly as strained or dry so I think everyone who sits in front of a computer all day should invest in a pair. The Book Club has a bunch of cute options like these, these and these. Also check out Warby Parker for some fun styles!
Hey ladies! I’m expecting and wondering what are you favorite mom Instagram accounts/blog?
We don’t necessarily read a ton of “Mom blogs” but we follow a LOT of influencers who happen to be moms and often write about their experiences. You can see who we follow by going to our Instagram page and clicking on “Following.” Our favorites are Andee Layne “The Honeybee,” Somewhere Lately, Itsybitysy Indulgences, and Destiny Thompson of Truly Destiny.
I see you both drinking celery juice every morning. Does it keep or do you have to drink it right away and what are the health benefits?
Yes…it lasts about 3 days in the fridge IMO. All juice is best/highest nutrients if consumed right after it’s juiced, but I don’t have time to do that every morning and I like having it ready to go ahead of time.
TBH, there isn’t a lot of scientific evidence to back up a lot of the celery juice claims, but it definitely can’t hurt you. I drink it for the potential skin and gut health benefits and do notice a difference when I’m drinking the kool-aid 😉
I wrote more here and here about how to make it and the benefits.
Is the Laneige lip sleeping mask worth the hype?
OK. Girls. Everyone needs this in their beauty routine. For $20, it is meant to be worn at night and you wake up with plump, hydrated and refreshed lips. But I also wear it during the day as a lip gloss because it stays on ALL DAY. I’m serious.. it’s so thick and yummy, tastes like roses and is just overall kind of the best thing I’ve purchased in the last month. I use it 2x a day (morning and night) and just bought it again because the thought of running out gives me hives.
Heather: I love Parker’s crib! Can you link it?
Thank you! I’m really happy with the way it turned out. It can be found at Target, Crate and Barrel or PB Kids! Find it here in black and natural wash.
I want a cute pair of Valentine’s Day pajamas.. but nothing over the top expensive or sexy!
My first stop for cute PJ’s is always one of a 4 places: Abercrombie, Old Navy, Gap or good ol TARJAAAY. This Abercrombie jogger set is SO cute but if you want shorts, get these in the red and white hearts. This set is a bralette and boy short that I’m obsessed with. And to make it even cuter, add a fun pair of chenille, cozy socks. These joggers from Gap are currently on sale and this sweatshirt dress is in my favorite color of bright pink. Happy Shopping!
How do you cook your salmon? And do you have a marinade /seasoning you like? We love salmon but never quite sure what to do with it.
This week we both made our salmon with a lemon, olive oil, garlic, salt and pepper marinade and cooked for 12 minutes at 400 degrees. If we weren’t doing our sugar detox I probably would have made it with a miso glaze. Yum, Yum, and Yum…these recipes all sound bomb! And here is a slow cooker recipe for salmon which is super easy.
Thanks for sending us your direct messages and emails this week! We love engaging with you and answering your fun questions!
If we didn’t get to your question this week we will next week 😉
xx, A&H
