I’m working out more and noticing that I’m feeling hungry all the time and worried I’m eating too much and might gain weight. Any ideas what I can do?
Exercise stimulates your appetite so it’s important to be strategic with how you fuel before and after your workouts. I wrote an entire post on “pre and post workout nutrition guide” that you should for sure check out.
Essentially make sure you’re fueling with easily digestable carbs before your workout and refueling with complex carbs and adequate protein after you workout. Being prepared with a good snack or meal after your workout is key so you’re not waiting too long to eat after your workout and feeling overly hungry. Not eating enough during the day is going to leave you feeling REAL hungry in the evening and likely leads to overeating before bed.
Eating protein with every meal will help you feel more full and satisfied and be sure to not go long periods of time between meals/snacks (3-5 hours) to avoid feeling overly hungry. Lastly, being hydrated going into a workout and drinking adequate water during your workout and throughout the day is key is helping you accurately assess hunger cues and avoid dehydration.
Do you like the Tone it Up protein powder and have you tried their workouts?
Yes! I’ve been using the vanilla protein powder (on sale!!) and I like the taste. I’ve been using it in my smoothies and a lot of the Tone it Up recipes call for it like their protein pancakes. Yum!
I’ve never signed up for their different workout programs, but I’ve done some of their workouts on YouTube when in a pinch and love! We’ve linked a bunch here on our Pinterest fitness board.
Alix can you link the bento box you use to pack Quinn’s lunch in?
This is the bento box I use and works well for us. There are so many great options out there though. This, this, and this one would work really well for the kiddos lunch. I put the bento box into a lunch bag with ice packs to keep her lunch cold. I also love these Stasher bags for snacks on the go.
Hi ladies! We will be heading up to Seattle in a couple months and would love your suggestions! Food, fun stuff, etc.
Fun!! You’re in luck…we wrote up a Seattle Guide that has a lot of great options for things to do and places to eat (most importantly!) We hope you have a great trip!
What are your Nordstrom half-yearly sale finds?
To be honest we like to save up for the anniversary sale in July, buuuut there are some good deals going on with the Half Yearly right now. Here are some things we’re eyeing: this Zella top, this linen camisole is perfect for summer, obsessed with this sports bra, VINCE slides on major sale, this dress is a closet staple, these wedges, these leggings, and this crochet sweater tank!
I (Alix) snagged these APL sneakers…only a few sizes left but a great deal! I almost pulled the trigger on these ones…obsessed!
Heather- how has Headspace been going? Worth it? I just started and was wondering if the subscription was worth it or not.
I only do the free ones right now! And haven’t kept up with it enough…I need to get back into it! I loved it when I was doing it and totally calmed me down during the chaos of the day. Thanks for the reminder to dust off that app!
Thanks for your questions this week. Have a fun and safe Memorial Day Weekend!
