Alix: I love your outdoor table with built in cooler.. did your husband make it? Can you link some similar ones or inspo on Pinterest that I could show my husband for a DIY project?!
Thank you! It was one of my husband’s first projects when we moved into our house over 2 years ago and I let him have fun with it and the colors. It has a cooler built in that we fill with ice and keep beverage chilled when we have people over. When not using the cooler it has a cover. Here is a cool table, cooler pic here, love this concrete table look. This one has the blue in it like ours, this one is gorgeous, or you can just buy one off Etsy like this haha!
What is your favorite highlighter for a little added “glow” to your everyday makeup routine?
I have a couple favorites that I add to my cheek bones, down the bridge of my nose and on my upper lip: the one I grab for most often is this one by Becca in the color Champagne Pop (OBVIOUSLY!!). It adds the perfect shimmer and when that sun catches.. you, and everyone else, will KNOW IT. Another fave is by Trish McEvoy and is a highlight stick. Same type of shimmer and shine but a different method of applying. Love them both equally just depends on the look I’m going for.
Do you still use Drunk Elephant products or have you moved away from them recently?
Our love affair with Drunk Elephant can’t be broken.. we both use their products regularly. It’s no secret that we get excited about skincare products and like to try new things but we do find ourselves coming back to DE time and time again.
I (Heather) am a firm believer in the Vitamin C serum, tinted SPF (I wear it daily), and TLC glycolic serum for night. If you’re just starting down your skincare path, start with the Littles Package and test it out. We promise you’ll fall in love.
Do either of you use CBD oil or vape pens for anxiety/pain relief?
Heather here.. CBD is a HOT TOPIC right now and I am actually planning a post for Monday (hopefully, if I can get my ishhhh together).. and how CBD in skincare is the up and coming “THING.”
Anyway, from an anxiety/pain relief perspective, I am not a big user. I have tried it but it’s not my go-to to relax. I’d rather take a bath, take a yoga class or drink my Calm tea. My husband, on the other hand, has CBD lotions and CBD pens and uses them nightly. He has back pain so I rub lotion on his back every night and he says it helps. As for anxiety, he just recently started using a vape pen and it relaxes him tremendously. He’s a guy who comes home, is on his phone, working on emails late into the night. And chewing on his fingers because he’s stressed (such a bad habit we are both guilty of and want to change). CBD is totally helping him relax and unwind at night.
And for those who don’t know what CBD is and think we’re stoners.. read up. We’re not. Cannabidiol (CBD) is a chemical found in marijuana, but it doesn’t contain tetrahydrocannabinol, or THC, the psychoactive ingredient in marijuana that produces a high. The typical formulation of CBD is a liquid that you take orally. But CBD also is sold as an extract, a vaporized liquid (vape pen) and an oil-based capsule. Foods, drinks and beauty products are among the many CBD-infused products available. Hence why I am planning a post about CBD and skincare.. stay tuned!
I’m going on a girls trip to LA in a couple weeks and need some outfit inspiration.. rompers, dresses or jumpsuits?!
All of the above.. or even some liquid leggings and spicy hot heels! I have been unsuccessful in the hunt for the perfect romper.. they’re made for stick figures these days… I mean, WHERE is the fabric?! But here are some inspo outfits:
Alix: can you link the healthy muffin recipe you shared on stories the other week? I need some on-the-go snacks that are quick and easy!
Super easy to make…I just used the Simple Mills banana muffin mix and I added in 1 ripe banana (mashed) and Enjoy Life dark chocolate chips. They were super moist and Quinn also loved them. I froze half the muffins so it’s easy to defrost and grab and go and stored the other half for the week in the refrigerator so they stayed fresh. Here, here, and here are other good snack recipe ideas.
What is the Apple Cider Vinegar elixir you drink every morning and why? Can you share the benefits?
I use one packet of Emergen-C + 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar + 1/2 fresh lemon and fill the rest of the cup up with cold water and chug it! I explained the benefits of apple cider vinegar in this post.
Do either of you ever use Poshmark for selling your clothes? Curious if so what did you think? Have you tried any other similar services?
I (Heather) did sell on Poshmark and found that the items that sold most were Lululemon and some designer pieces in really good condition. I thought it was a really easy app to use. I haven’t sold for quite some time and now you’ve got me thinking I need to get ON IT! Make that money, honey.
Alix here…Yes, I have a Poshmark account linked here and I agree with Heather… my Lululemon goes fast and accessories like sunglasses and jewelry sell well if in good condition. It takes a little extra time, but describe your items well and take good pictures. It’s a really easy app to use. Be ready to print off the shipping labels, pack the items well, and send off ASAP.
I’ve also tried thredUp to sell clothes and thought it was a complete rip off. Heather seconds that sentiment!
