I’m headed to Hawaii and need a good plane/beach read. Any recommendations? What is your all time favorite book?
Alix here….Heather just finished November 9 by one of our fave authors and she finished it in one day! I can’t wait to start it. I’m currently reading Three Women which gets great reviews and I’m just starting it, so hard to say how much I like it. I just finished My Lovely Wife which was I’ll give a B-. I wrote a post recently here with 6 reads I’ve enjoyed and we also have a Pinterest board dedicated to our fave reads. I think Heather and I would both agree that It Ends with Us is the best book ever!
Alix: what was your order at Starbucks with the pumpkin spice syrup? And idea how many grams of sugar?
You know I had to try the pumpkin cold brew the first day it came out 😉 I’m not a huge PSL fan because it’s SO sweet and honestly tastes nothing like pumpkin, but this cold brew is legit. I ordered it without the vanilla syrup and I just wanted the pumpkin cold foam. You can’t make it dairy free unfortunately, but it’s worth it for a fun seasonal treat. This wouldn’t be my daily order, but def worth a try!
What are you guys doing now for exercise since the half marathon is over?
Alix: TBH I didn’t drastically change my workout routine and just added in the long runs. I considered Orange Theory my short runs/interval training and did my long runs on Saturdays. I took it easy the day before a long run and took the day completely off (or yoga) after a long run. So now that long runs are over (thnx god!) I’m back to my normal routine of Orange Theory Fitness 2 x week with barre, yoga, pilates, walks, and cycle all thrown in the mix by using Class Pass. I’m working out 5-6 days a week with one day of yoga/rest depending on the week and my schedule with Quinn.
Heather: My workouts have slowed down the last couple weeks due to travel and my husband being out of town but I still try and reach at least 10K steps a day, which is easy chasing after the psychos children. But with school back in session next week (praise!), I plan to continue with Orange Theory or Barry’s 1x a week, yoga twice a week and maybe some shorter runs (4-6 miles). My goal is to work out 4-6x a week but it doesn’t always happen.
Any recommendations for a lightweight rain coat/jacket as we head into Fall?
Yes! Lululemon has a fab supply of lightweight coats that I think are worth the investment. This one and and this one are my faves. But if you want something a little more professional for a work environment, loving this one!
What jeans are your staples?
I have a few. Levi’s have my heart always and forever and I love this skinny pair and these distressed mom jeans. The price point is just right. Abercrombie jeans have made a HUGE comeback and I have/love this pair and this pair. Lastly, I bought these Hudson’s at the sale and they are probably my most flattering pair.
Will you be doing any Labor Day Sale posts?
Yes! I will be doing a full post on Monday of all my Labor Day finds that you won’t want to miss out on!
I am going to wine country in September and I’m not sure what to wear wine tasting! A romper, jumpsuit, wide leg pants? Help!
All of the above would be appropriate depending on weather! September can bring warm OR cooler temps so depending on that, you could wear this romper (the color is on point), this jumpsuit ($45!) would be so cute with wedges and a hat, or these wide leg pants are adorable. Also loving this dress for a casual but flowy feel! My suggestion is to class it up.. you are wine tasting after all 😉
What are your tips for traveling with kids? I’m so nervous to travel with my little one.
I’m not sure the age of your kiddo, but I’ll speak to traveling with a toddler. If you’re OK with giving your kids access to screen time, the key is giving them something they haven’t seen before or something they’re excited about that they don’t get to do often at home. I will always download a couple of Disney movies, this Kidloland app, and then I raid the $1 section at Target and load up on all the random shit. I also pack a bag of small toys, entertainment, and new snacks for the flight home and keep that hidden.
I just learned you can download a lot of movies and shows off Netflix and can watch on the plane.
I also load up on all the fun, new, and favorite snacks and keep them hidden until on the plane and take out one by one as needed. Same thing goes for “treats” they don’t get often. With that said, try and limit all the sugary snacks.. only whip those out near the end of the flight or on descent when they’re losing it and want off. I always have a packet of M&Ms for the last 45 minutes of the flight when my kids are OVER IT. I give them one at a time and it takes FOREVER for them to get through them.
Lastly, we follow a fab blogger who wrote a post ALL about this and recommended 40 apps that don’t require Wifi. Read it here.
