This week flew by and with daylight savings, we just can’t quite get our bearings. Oh, and waking up early for workouts. Not. Happening (at least for Heather) 😉 But Seattle temps are rising and the extra sunlight in the afternoon is SO NEEDED, especially with the kids. We can already feel a shift in our energy and mood: sun=happiness! And it’s Friday.. PRAISE! Time for happy hour 🙂
What are your healthy plane/airport snack recommendations?
First of all, plan ahead! Hit up the grocery store and stock up on some goodies to stash in your carry on so you don’t wind up hangray and paying for overpriced and undernourishing (is that a word?) snacks at the airport. If you have an early flight I like to make overnight oats or chia seed pudding the night before and bring with me in a jar I don’t mind tossing at the airport. Load it up with your favs in the morning: nut butter, nuts, seeds, granola, berries, shredded coconut…etc. For snacks I like to pack bars, trail mix, turkey jerky, fruit, yogurt, popcorn, string cheese, crackers, homemade muffin or energy balls, nut butter packets (like this), peanut butter and banana sandwich, raw veggies and hummus, chicken salad with dressing on the side…get creative! You can bring a little lunch bag with an ice pack to keep things cold and fresh too! I also like to pack extra stuff so I will have it on my trip or for the flight home depending on where we are going and if we will have easy access to a grocery store. Be sure to also bring your water bottle and fill it up at the airport to stay hydrated!
You guys are loving Pressed juices lately. What are your favorite flavors?
Heather: Alix’s taste buds are a bit different than mine (aka I crave the bad stuff.. trying to change that) but I like Greens 1.5 and Greens 2, Citrus 1, Citrus 3 if I’m hungover lol and the coconut h20 with lemon (my holy grail). Obviously, my choices have a bit more sugar in them so slowly but surely I am making better choices each day but sometimes, you just need it. Ya feel?
Alix: I go for the low sugar greens like Green 1, 1.5, and 4 (this one has a kick to it!). I’m into the citrus 1 to rehydrate after a run or spin class. I’m praying they come back with the watermelon seasonal drink this Summer…it is my fav and so good with vodka and mint lol! The vanilla almond is super yummy in a smoothie or in overnight oats or chia seed pudding! Lastly, you guys know I’m obsessed with their “heat” drink the matcha and turmeric lattes are bomb!
I need a new pair of running tights…any suggestions?
Yes! I’ve heard awesome things about these lulu’s…they are currently on my birthday wishlist! I love these (the side pocket is great for stashing your phone during a workout or errands) and these right now for my half marathon training. I was just in the Nike store last weekend and swooning over these…I will probably get them for race day!
I’m attending a baby shower in April in Chicago and I need outfit inspo please!
How fun! Ok, Chicago weather is tempermental so with any of these suggestions, a cute jean or leather jacket would be ideal. This jumpsuit is so darling and under $100. This dress comes in multiple colors and looks just like the Self Portrait version but it’s only $89 and this dress could double as your Easter dress. I’ve seen this dress (in the mustard yellow) on a few people and it’s very flattering. And lastly, I’m obsessing over this jumpsuit and how cute with a jean jacket over it?
My baby is almost one, and I want to breastfeed him another year. The problem is my milk decreased dramatically. Any tips?
Milk supply is def a demand and supply situation, so a 1-2 year old is likely nursing less frequently than 0-1 year old because they are getting some nutrition from solids. In order to keep milk supply up that might mean you have to pump more (in between feedings) depending on how often he’s nursing.
Nutritionally you want to be sure you’re eating enough calories (you need about 400-500 extra calories a day!) Focus on nutrient dense foods…think whole grains, a variety of fruits and veggies, protein rich foods (lean meat, eggs, beans, fish, dairy, cheese) and healthy fats like nuts, nut butter, avocado, olive and coconut oil.
Fenugreek was a supplement I used and felt like it really helped. Brewers yeast is also supposed boost milk supply (or you can drink a beer lol) I made these lactation cookies and this granola (oatmeal is a great breastfeeding food) for myself and all my nursing mom friends! Lastly, be sure to stay hydrated. Gotta keep the water intake up. Good luck!
We’re going to a birthday party on a boat in the Bay Area in a few weeks and it’s “an all white affair,” any ideas on the best dress/things to wear that I could also wear again?
Jealous! If it was me (Heather), I’d probably wear a jumpsuit or dress.. thinking this, this, this, or this! As for heels, you’re going to want to go nude. I have these and these if you want more of a block heel (both very comfortable) and they go with EVERYTHING, especially an all white outfit.
Alix- how have you liked the spot treatments you posted about for acne from Sephora?
I’m really liking the products I picked up…I totally think they are helping, but still having a few breakouts here and there. These are the 3 products I picked up in case you missed it on insta stories… this spot treatment I do day and night as needed and this gel at night when I’m feeling like my skin is acting up. These acne stickers are kind of fun and I totally wore one to the grocery store the other day because I forgot it was on- oops! They might help a little, but if you only want to get one spot treatment product I’d say the Murad one is the best. Not acne related, but another new (ish) product I’m obsessed with is this matcha moisturizer stick I got in my Thrive Market box.
I am going to a charity event at a country club and the theme is “casino night.” What should I wear?
What’s with all these fun events people are getting invited to? Can we come?! OK, this is a good one. You can go all glam in sequins (but tasteful) in this number, fun in a black jumpsuit or something unexpected like this guy.. seriously contemplating that dress for myself!
