I need a refresher on Vital Proteins and why you guys like them! Does it work for hair, skin and nail health? How often should I be using it and which products of Vital Proteins are your favorite?
Yes, we love our Vital Proteins and add 2 scoops (20 grams) to our coffee every morning…20 grams/daily is the recommended intake to see best results. It easily dissolves in very hot liquid (cold/iced beverages it gets clumpy) or blend in smoothie and it’s tasteless. Possible health benefits: hair, skin, and nail health. Collagen can also possibly improve skin clarity and firmness…yes please! It’s also said have joint and bone health benefits, help with muscle recovery post exercise, and my fave gut health! There is still a need for more research to back a lot of these claims up, but there is no real downside to taking it (besides cost) and we both feel like it does provide health and beauty benefits for us. If nothing else it’s giving you 20 grams protein at the start of your day which I love having after my morning workout.
I need a recommendation for lash extensions.. I think I remember you talking about them on stories once?
I (Heather) had lash extensions before I got married and I regretted them the second I decided to stop getting them filled. They pulled out all of my natural lashes and I was left with nubby nubs.. so sad. So I don’t have a recommendation for who to go to for lashes BUT I would recommend a lash lift/tint to your own, natural lashes and go see my girl, Stephanie, at Sapien Aesthetics.
Alix- what were those Perfect Bar Peanut Butter cups you posted about? Are they an after dinner dessert or a protein bar?
Oh those were SO good!! These are a new product and there are 3 flavors…I tried the dark chocolate with sea salt and found them at my local Whole Foods near the other Perfect Bars. I mean there is no really right or wrong way to eat them lol…I had them as an after lunch snack, but I would also throw them in the freezer for an after dinner treat. My current go to is the Justin’s Cashew Butter Cups that literally taste like chocolate chip cookie dough if you keep them in the freezer. I also really like Eating Evolved Coconut Butter Cups and I get these all at Whole Foods 😉 Keep in the freezer and enjoy as treats after meals when you’re needing something sweet!
Favorite Primal Kitchen dressings/marinades – go!
Heather’s favorites are the Lemon Turmeric for salads and the BBQ Ranch as a chicken marinade!
Alix: I don’t think you can really go wrong with any Primal Kitchen products. Their ingredients are always on point, so you never have to question the quality of what you’re eating. I’ve been trying to slowly switch all our condiments over to Primal Kitchen (even though my husband is stuck on his Hidden Valley ranch and Yoshidas …ugh!). I used their teriyaki sauce this week on salmon and it was good and I also like their Golden BBQ sauce on chicken…which has a little kick to it. I also love all their salad dressings, but Heather got me hooked on the Lemon Tumeric!
Holiday parties are right around the corner and I need a dress for my husband’s work party so it needs to be work appropriate but still festive! Help!
ASOS is always my go-to during the holiday season for my dresses because I tend to only wear them once or twice. If you have a bigger budget, Revolve, Nordstrom, Banana Republic or Anthropologie also have gorgeous (albeit pricier) options. I also think you can get away with a jumpsuit for a company parter so don’t be shy to look at some of those! But you asked for dresses so these are the ones I’m loving: one | two | three | four
What bento boxes do you use for your kid’s lunches?
Heather uses these Bentgo ones from Amazon for both boys! Alix uses this one for Quinn.
What are your favorite Pandora/Spotify stations for working out? Do you have a specific playlist you follow?
Alix: I take a lot of classes, so don’t really get to listen to my own music but when I was training for the half marathon I listened to Pandora’s Taylor Swift Radio, Chainsmokers Radio, Today’s Hip Hop and Pop Hits Radio, and Britney Spears Radio. Not that exciting I know sorry lol! When I go on walks I mostly listen to books on tape or podcasts. We both love The Skinny Confidential podcast and I’ve also been enjoying Liz Moody’s Healthier Together podcast…she has some great guests and is a good interviewer. I need some more true crime podcasts in my life, so if you have a good one drop it in the comments 😉 If you have good playlist recs also leave that in the comments too!
Rainy season is upon us.. favorite boots this season to weather the storms?
Hunter and Sperry are tried and true for the Seattle rain so love these navy colored ones and these (in my cart.. the perfect pumpkin patch bootie lol). Love Jeffrey Campbell’s version for a more casual and outdoor look. Have these Sam Edelman’s and they are comfy but can be dressed up or dressed down. Madewell made their own version here. Kind of obsessing over Rag and Bone’s version but eeeek a tad pricier.
What was the page turner one of you guys posted about in stories? I’m wanting a new book!
Heather flew threw November 9 by Colleen Hoover and Alix just started it. Anything Colleen Hoover is typically a good and quick read!
