Does the Four Sigmatic mushroom coffee taste like mushrooms? Are the ingredients safe for nursing? Do they sell individual packets for me to try?
Lol #1 question I get about the mushroom coffee. No, it doesn’t taste gross, but it does have a different taste then traditional coffee for sure. Essentially, it is boiled down mushrooms (specific kinds of mushrooms are used for their different medicinal properties) blended with coffee. So you’re getting the benefits of coffee and mushrooms in one. The different types of mushrooms typically used are cordyceps, chaga, lion’s mane, turkey tail, and reishi. Mushroom coffee typically has less caffeine than a regular cup of coffee and is less acidic. Four Sigmatic offers many options that are caffeine free like their chai, but still has the mushroom benefits.
IMO it’s safe for pregnancy and nursing moms but OF COURSE check with your doctor first! I’ve found individual packets at Whole Foods. It’s nice to try a bunch of different kinds before committing to a box because they are on the pricier side.
Can you link the oil diffuser you have and the Capri Blue diffuser oil? What other oils do you diffuse?
The Capri Blue Diffuser Oil is life changing! For reals makes your house smell like Anthropolgie. I also like diffusing doTERRA Wild Orange Essential Oil as orange is a mood booster. Frankincense is good to diffuse for anxiety and depression. I also like this Serenity blend and lavender for night time.
Heather- where did you get your cute midi skirt? Can you link similar ones? What boots do you wear with your midi skirts?
I got mine at Zara back in the summer but there are so many good ones out there right now. Love this | this | this. I think you can wear midi skirts with a black/tan bootie or a boot that goes to your knees and it’s hidden by the skirt. I think a pointed toe bootie/boot is best for a more feminine look since the skirt is already really flirty and girly! Think something like this or this! Obviously, a high heel would also work but for winter and a more edgy look, I like boots!
Hey ladies- any recipe/snack ideas to curb my healthy chocolate fix? Since having my second baby two weeks ago, I have a ridiculous sweet tooth for chocolate after I eat. Like strong craving. Trying to keep it healthy and thought you might have some snack ideas.
We feel ya! We both usually need something small and sweet after meals. Perfect Bar makes dark chocolate cups that taste great and typically 1 cup does the trick! Eating Evolved also makes coconut butter cups and one of those will also do the trick. Lily’s make’s chocolate and peanut butter cups with stevia, so a low sugar option if you like stevia. I find all of these at Whole Foods. If you want to make your own, I like this freezer fudge recipe and this peanut butter cup recipe.
Alix- did you do the month of low impact workouts? Curious how your body felt and what your results were.
I have switched to all low impact workouts, but it’s honestly hard to really assess because of my knee injury. I’m waiting for an MRI to confirm, but I’m 75% sure I’ve torn my meniscus. However, I have been enjoying the change of pace with my workouts and my body feels good sticking to barre, yoga, lagree pilates for the most part. I do crave that intense cardio burn, so I have been doing some cycling to get that energy out. I don’t notice any change in my body with the change of workouts. I think I look the same lol!
I need a new night time moisturizer and wondering if you have any recommendations?
Our tried and true Drunk Elephant Lala Whipped will always be one of our number one recommendations. We also love Tula and Heather likes Water Drench in the dry winter months. Heather recently started using PCA Skincare and likes this moisturizer!
What are your favorite Netflix shows?
If you haven’t binged YOU (season 2 starts the day after Christmas!) and Dead to Me, get on that ASAP. We also loved Dirty John that’s on Netflix now. If you never watched Breaking Bad do that now while it’s on Netflix. What are your favorites.. we need new shows?!
What’s on your gal’s Christmas list this year?
Alix: I really want a Peloton bike so I’m not spending so much time going to classes. The 4 hours Quinn is at school goes by so fast, and I’m starting to dislike wasting a lot of that time driving and taking a class. I also would LOVE this YSL shoulder bag…fingers crossed!! I love this card case to go with it too.
Heather: My new high top Golden Goose’s were on my list so my husband said I could get them early since they were on sale over Black Friday. So, my Christmas wishlist has been fulfilled! If he wants to toss in a Nordstrom gift card in my stocking, I wouldn’t say no 😉
What bone broth do you buy and how do you incorporate it in your diet? What are the benefits?
If you’re lucky enough to live near a Belcampo (mostly in CA and one in NYC) they have bone broth on tap!!! Gahhh so dreamy. You can also buy their bone broth online. I’ve also tried and liked Epic and Bonafide. You can it buy online at Thrive Market, Whole Foods, and other health foods stores in the freezer section. I just found these broth cups at my local market and can’t wait to try!
Bone broth is an excellent source of minerals (calcium, magnesium, and phosphorus), can boost the immune system, and improve digestion. Because of its high collagen content it also supports joints, hair, skin, and nails. There are of course a ton a health claims, but bottom line it’s nutritious and high protein…it can’t hurt you 😉
This is an informative article about bone broth and even has a recipe to make you’re own if you’re feeling adventurous.
Thank you for your questions via DM and email this week! Keep them coming.
