What facial moisturizer should I use during the winter months with my dry, cracking skin!? Helpppppp!
I think along with a moisturizer you should also introduce oil and mix it in to help with dry winter skin! Drunk Elephant Whipped + Marula oil is a dream combo! We’ve never tried The Ordinary line but I have a friend who uses it and absolutely LOVES it and it’s really inexpensive so if you ended up not liking it.. no harm, no foul (legit under $6!). We’ve also heard really amazing things about Elemis’ moisturizer and we are obsessed with their cleansing balm so this might be next on our purchase list!
Heather – please share what you’re packing for Mexico. We just booked a cruise and last time I went on a cruise, I felt so underdressed. I plan on taking my revenge this time so I need inspo!
Yes! Our trip will be very casual and relaxed.. I don’t really plan to bring anything fancy (also don’t want to draw attention to myself in Mexico lol). However, that doesn’t mean I don’t plan to put myself together 😉 I will be packing casual pool coverups, jeans shorts, flowy maxi dresses, and a few going out outfits for dinner! Seriously check all of your favorite sites and their SALE category because everyone is trying to get rid of last year’s inventory and there are some CRAZY deals right now. Example: Revolve Clothing has every summer item marked down! Here is some inspo for you based on what I’m packing:
Can you please share a post regarding podcasts you listen to and why you like them?!
Heather: I love The Skinny Confidential because she is entertaining as hell and always has the best beauty hacks. She also interviews people who I know and follow on Social Media and listening to how they’ve built their brands and businesses is really inspiring. Also, I posted about the three podcasts I am starting to listen to more in 2020 in our Intentions Post. Those podcasts include the Ed Mylett Show, Lewis Howes School of Greatness and The James Altucher show. All three of these are business minded podcasts that inspire me every time I finish listening and make me want to push myself harder every day.
Alix: I also love The Skinny Confidential because they interview the best of the best and there are a variety of topics they cover. Her interviews get very specific and you always walk away learning a lot and feeling inspired. I also listen to a lot of nutrition related podcast and my top three favorite right now are The Food Trainers Podcast, Healthier Together Podcast, and I’m loving Kelly Leveque’s new podcast
Alix- can you share the tofu peanut bowl recipe as well as the steel cut oats/jam recipe you posted on stories last week?
Yes! Heather and I have now both tried this recipe and love it (and so do the husbands-win!) We are both trying to incorporate more meatless meals and the tofu buddha bowls will be in the weekly rotation for sure. The raw cashew steel cut oats recipe is SO good enjoy! We usually pin all the recipes we love to our Pinterest page, so be sure to follow us!
Any must-have Amazon finds this month? Always love those posts!
I mean, if you haven’t ordered something off Amazon in a day or two are you even living? I recently ordered this beanie (it’s men’s but do we care? no), this knockoff pouch bag that you’ve seen all over Insta (obsessed with the brown too), and this lip balm that my girlfriend turned me on to for my very chapped winter lips!
Alix- you’ve mentioned a knee injury a few times on Instagram.. do you mind me asking what happened? How are you modifying your workouts until you see a doctor for an MRI?
Yes, sorry if I’ve been vague. I had 4 knee surgeries on my right knee in college. I tore my ACL and partial meniscus playing soccer and had a few surgeries after that to clean up a staph infection. I think my knee if bothering me again due to wear and tear and most recently training for the half marathon did me in. I’ve been working with a chiropractor and we are thinking I re-tore my meniscus. I’ll get an MRI next week and know more. I’ve been modifying my workouts by not running and doing anything high impact which irritates it. I’m trying to do my normal workouts and if a position irritates my knee then I do something different.
Can your please remind me how to shop your links or outfits you post on Instagram? Obviously, if I click on something through your blog and it takes me to a site and I shop, it should give you credit right? But how do I shop items you post Instagram?
Yes, if you click on any of the items linked in a post (example: lip balm in the above question), it will take you directly to the website where you can buy it. You don’t even have to buy that particular item! It could take you directly to Amazon and then you can start shopping for ANYTHING and if you purchase something/anything/doesn’t even need to be the lip balm, we will get a kick back. Each kick back is different based on the products you buy and from where but yes, we will get “credit” since you got to that site through us! We always appreciate it when you shop through our links 🙂 So thank you!
The easiest way for you to shop all of our looks on Instagram (and even things we don’t post on Instagram all the time.. like beauty products, etc) is to download the LIKEtoKNOWit app through the Apple store. I wrote a whole post about how to download it and find us and I have an entire “highlight” saved on our Instagram page on how to find us!
How do you guys find balance of yummy cocktails without overindulging on the calories? Do you lighten up your cocktail order?
Yes…we are annoying and ask specifically what’s in the cocktail. Soda water is best…tonic water and juice have a lot of sugar. We either ask for no syrup and just a lot of fresh lime or light syrup. Cocktails can definitely sneak in a lot of added calories and sugar, so it’s best to ask your bartender what’s in the drink and how it can be modified. Be a cocktail snob 😉
Have you tried any hangover “cures” that you take the night before or whatever? I see a lot of different ones and always wonder if they work.
No we haven’t tried any of them, but what a lot of them contain are B vitamins. You can try a B Complex before bed and that might help. Drinking a full glass of water between drinks and before bed does wonders to keep you hydrated and not waking up with a headache!
Thanks for your questions this week and for engaging with us on Instagram and through the blog! We love your comments and questions and truly appreciate everyone’s tips, tricks and advice on all topics!
