I’m looking for a cute new sports bra for hot yoga and spin. Would love any recs!
Yes! I like a long line bra when taking these classes, so you’re getting a little more coverage but still staying cool in these hot classes. one | two | three | four | love them all 🙂
I need a stylish and chic way of organizing my bathroom countertop accessories like my toothbrush, soaps, perfumes, etc. Any ideas?
Yes, it would be so cute to display those items on a rectangular tray like this one from Crate&Barrel. You can place your soap dispensers on top of it and then use an empty Diptyque candle to store your makeup brushes. This is how I do it at least and it looks so pretty on your countertop!
I am going on vacation with a bunch of other families and so I want cute pajamas for lounging instead of my usual mismatched pants and tees 🙂
This set is on sale and so cute! Also love these leopard joggers or this winter white set! Lastly, this set looks so cozy.
Do either of you ski or snowboard and if so, what ski gear do you buy for the slopes?
Alix used to snowboard until she tore her ACL and doesn’t have a desire to pick it back up due to her injuries and Heather grew up skiing and snowboarding but hasn’t done it in recent years. If we were to pick it back up, these are the items we have in the back of our mind:
I need a lightweight sweater to throw on for a flight or school drop off that’s not too heavy but still put together and comfortable. I know this sounds a bit specific but know you can find something 😉
Found you the perfect lightweight sweater/blazer here! It’s $150 but a classic staple piece for your closet and will never go out of style!
Lately I have followed some ladies who say that for fat loss lifting heavy weights is what you have to do. Right now I do a barre class 3-4 times a week and then I will run one day and spin one day. Do you agree with having to lift heavy weights for fat loss? Maybe you have already answered this in a post, which I would love to read. Just wondering your thoughts.
There has definitely been a shift to more weights based training vs. cardio. I wrote about cardio and cortisol here. The truth is the more muscle mass you have the more calories you burn (higher resting metabolic rate). Lifting weights is good for bone health as well (esp. important for women as we age to prevent osteoporosis). So, I don’t think you need to be killing yourself trying to lift “heavy weights” but incorporating weights into your routine it very beneficial. A good starting point for you might be trying to choose heavier weights in barre class.
Alix did you like the almond flour pizza crust better than the cauliflower crust from Trader Joe’s?
OMG yes!!! It was so good and not as dry as the cauliflower one. I still like the TJ one and would use again, but this almond flour one from Cappello’s naked crust.
How do you know what and how much to feed a toddler? I have a 14 month old and she’s my first. I try to keep her diet healthy, she has no allergies so far but I feel like I always end up feeding her the same things… cheese, fruit, yogurt…. where do you find healthy and yummy meal options for kids? How do you keep it interesting and not give them the same thing all the time. And how much are they supposed to be eating at a sitting?
I know how overwhelming it can feel to make sure they are getting enough and a good variety of foods. This could totally be an entire post and I will work on writing it…I did write a post about toddler nutrition here with some lunch meal ideas.
Ideally at this age you can have them eating similar foods that you are. Children this age should be offered 3 meals a day and 1-2 snacks if they’re hungry. Each meal should offer a variety of food groups. No need to get super hung up on how many calories they “should” be consuming or grams or macronutrients (ex. carbs, protein, fat). If offered a variety of foods and food groups at regular times, kids should be able to self regulate from there and get in enough nutrition. Your job as the parent is to offer consistent and balanced meals and your child’s job is to eat what and how much they want. This idea of division of responsibility is from Ellyn Satter and she is a great resource. One of her books I recommend is Secrets of Feeding a Healthy Family Other books I like are Born to Eat , Adventures in Veggieland, and Raising a Healthy, Happy Eater. There are some good toddler nutrition Instagram account you might try following that could give you some new meal ideas to try with your little one. Plantbasedjuniors is a great account by two Registered Dietitians that offer meal ideas they serve their toddlers. Even if you’re not raising a vegetarian child there are still great ideas on their account and can give you can idea of portions. Snackswithjax offers great feeding tips and Kids.eat.in.color. does too! Hope this helps!
