I love treating myself to a cute PJ set for Valentine’s Day…can you link some?
Always check the inventory at Target first for cheap but cute sets.. I couldn’t find ones I couldn’t live without online but that doesn’t mean they don’t exist in store! Here are some others I think are so cute!
Can you tell me the pros and cons of using a primer for makeup and what is a good one to try? The bags under my eyes are intense and I just got some concealer but was told primer will help make it look better and I’m lost haha.
Honestly, I don’t necessarily know all the ins and outs of using a primer but I do it because after obsessing over watching makeup tutorials a few summers ago, I started doing it and never looked back. I use this one by Makeup Forever but plan to switch to this Hangover Replenishing Face Primer after seeing it all over Instagram the past few months! If you want something specifically for under eye circles, I would talk to someone in Sephora about what you’re trying to accomplish. Just don’t let them talk you into buying the most expensive primer because I don’t think that’s necessary. Splurge on the foundations and concealers.
Heather- where do you stay in Puerto Vallarta and can you recommend any good hotels or locations?
We stayed at my husband’s parents condo called the Grand Venetian which is a short cab ride from the airport, to the marina and downtown. I am not sure they are available to stay at like a hotel but I would recommend the Marriott in the marina because you are close to so many restaurants, bars and vendors! If you want to be extra, stay at the Four Seasons in Punta Mita.. my dream!
What bathing suits did you pack for your warm weather vacation?
I packed all old suits for the most part but there are so many good ones right now! Here’s what I have my eye on for Spring Break:
I love the cross necklace and name necklace you wore in your vacay pics.. can you link?!
Thank you! My cross necklace is by Meghan Bo Designs and can be found at Vici here. My nameplate necklace is no longer available on Etsy (shop: The Sis Kiss) but found a similar version here! And here is a similar version to my initial necklace for a fraction of the cost!
Alix- what was the stretch place you went to? Would you recommend it?
I went to a place called Stretch 22 and schedule a 25 minute lower body stretch. I really did not know what to expect, but I love trying wellness services like this so I wanted to give it a shot. My mind wasn’t blown by any means, but I got a good stretch on my hamstrings, quads, and hips. She was able to get deeper into my muscles than I can on my own (or in yoga). I wish I had known about this while training for my half marathon…I think this is a wonderful service for athletes, or if your goal is to be stretching more and working on flexibility. I left feeling like my legs were lighter and longer.
What are you favorite Tula products? I’m looking to place and order for a few things!
We both love Tula’s face cleanser and have been using it for a few years now. I also just got the brightening eye balm and face primer and would recommend both. I loved how smooth these pads made my face and this is a good reminder that I need to buy more! I also tried their probiotics in the past, but think there are better ones out there.
Do you have any healthy Super Bowl recipes?
I made cauliflower buffalo “wings” last year and they were good! I used almond flour and Primal Kitchen buffalo sauce and offered their ranch for dipping. These mozzarella sticks or these avocado deviled eggs would a fun app to bring. I love brining these buffalo chicken meatballs to a football party. You could also make a homemade hummus like this avocado hummus and bring raw veggies for dipping.
What is the difference between almond flour and regular pasta? Is the almond flour healthier or why do you choose that type of pasta?
The Cappello’s pasta I made this week is grain free and gluten free, so a great option for someone with dietary restrictions. This brand uses very minimal ingredients to make their pasta (minimally processed) so, overall a better quality product than standard pasta. It’s pricey but nutritious. 1 serving (1/3 package) is 30 carbs (so not low carb per se if that’s your goal), 16 grams of fat (hello almonds) and 9 grams of protein. There is no added sugar and 3 grams fiber. I think it’s a great gluten free alternative (something I try to not have in large quantities) with quality ingredients and tastes like gourmet fresh pasta IMO. That’s why I eat it 😉
Alix- what do you think of these green gummies as a way to get more greens in my diet?
I think these are a fine options to get in extra B vitamins and Vitamin C. There is a little fiber in these (4 grams per 2 gummies) but obviously not nearly as much if you were to eat a cup of spinach. I don’t love that these gummies have vegetable oil (canola oil) in them as this in considered an inflammatory type of oil. To be honest I think these are a little $$$ for the possible benefits. If you like these type of supplements for a little extra boost that’s fine, but they don’t replace real veggies in your diet. Ideally, you’re getting all your nutrient needs met via food…food first is the goal. If you know there are gaps in your diet or you will be traveling and won’t have access to you usual foods, then this would be a good supplement to bring with you.
