I’m on the hunt for a cute work tote that will primarily transport my laptop, folders, notebooks.. for work. (Something with a zipper so my toddler can’t reach in there) any recs?
The never-ending struggle to find the perfect laptop work tote!! First of all, no matter what tote you end up buying, you need this insert off Amazon.. and you probably need more than one like us (because some bags are beige and some are black on the interior, right?!). Now, this eliminates the need to find a bag with all the compartments because you’ve created it with the insert. It fits in my Goyard and Louis Neverfull like a dream. Ok now that we’ve gotten that out of the way, let’s find a good tote that will hold all. the. shit. As you can tell, I like to keep it simple when it comes to totes:
Heather- are you liking your new Acura MDX and how is it working with the 3 car seats across? What car seats do you use that fit?
After much debate and back and forth between a minivan, GLS and MDX, I decided on the MDX for a few reasons. I was driving an Infiniti QX80 and it was just too big.. I literally hit everything, including busses.. like, that’s hard to do and I did it. Twice. So even though a minivan would be ideal at this stage of life, I still thought I’d hit shit. And a GLS is a serious luxury car and I have three little boys under 5.. they’d destroy it. An MDX seemed like the perfect fit and happy medium and I am so glad I made that decision. It’s big enough for three car seats across the bench, which is a game changer for me (I had bucket seats before and hated them). And when the third row is up, you don’t lose the trunk space. I can still fit a stroller, pack n play, extra booster, etc in the trunk when I have the third row up.. not a lot of SUVs do this.. trust me, I did the leg work. I have two Maxi Cosi carseats on the sides for the little boys and a Graco booster in the middle for J. These are the carseats that we have always had and always loved.
Alix- have you done a post about all of the cooking oils and which ones are a “no-no” and which ones you prefer to cook with?! I’d love to know your thoughts on the difference between olive, peanut, sesame, coconut, avocado oils.. there are so many!
I talked about inflammatory fats on this post (#5) I stick to avocado and olive oil for cooking and I use coconut oil often when baking or in my smoothies. I also really like ghee (try cooking your eggs in it- so good!). Avoid peanut oil, cotton seed oil, safflower oil, corn oil, palm oil, canola oil, palm oil, soybean oil, and sunflower oil as they are all considered inflammatory because of their omega 6 content and processing.
I workout at lunch time and sweat a little. Any advice on how to not have to redo my makeup entirely for only a few more hours of work?
I wish I could say that sweating in your makeup and heading back to work is a good idea, but it’s just not unfortunately. You run the risk of clogging your pores full of sweat, dirt, AND makeup and then you’ll suffer the real consequences of unwanted breakouts. My advice is to have a clean face going into your workout and then if you only have a few hours left of work, just do the BARE MINIMUM touch up on your face before heading back to the office. Think tinted moisturizer with SPF, a touch of bronzer or blush, mascara and a lip gloss. (linked my holy grails/empties/what I use). Done and done!
I’m seeing so much tie dye again this season… what are some of your favorite tie dye items for Spring?
I think the key with tie die is not to overdo it and my favorite way to wear it is as a sweatshirt. This sweatshirt is one of my favorites and I got this one from Nordstrom Rack a couple of weeks ago. Alix has these fun joggers from Victoria’s Secret and wears them as a comfy, cozy look at home!
Alix can you link your spin shoes you’re using on the Peloton?
I got these shoes but made a mistake and didn’t order the delta cleats with the shoes, so I had to go to a bike shop and have them put cleats on my shoes for me. I linked the pair that come with the cleats. I’ve always thought white spin shoes were so cute so I got the white ones. These shoes get good reviews and cheaper than buying the Peloton shoes 😉
Can you link the cute cookie cutters you bought to make your kid’s lunch?
I got vegetables/fruit cutter shapes to try and make Quinn’s lunch a little more exciting and hopefully motivate her to eat more of her lunch! I actually used the shape cutters with her deli turkey the other day and she ate it all! I also like these cutters. I use other cookie cutters like a unicorn, star, or heart on her sandwiches.
Thanks for your questions this week!
