I saw on Instastories about your expired spices…do they really expire?!
OK I might have overreacted, but when I saw an expiration date of 2014 in my spice cabinet I felt ill. According to the USDA spices are a shelf-stable product and never truly expire. What does occurs over time is that the flavor and potency of that flavor diminish. Whole spices will stay fresh for about 4 years and ground spices between 3-4 years. For dried herbs, many will last from 1-3 years. You can do the “sniff test” and check- spices should be very fragrant, so if they aren’t you might want to replace.
Alix do you like your massage gun? How does it compare to the Hypervolt?
I love my massage gun. I have never used the Hypervolt, so I can’t really say how it compares. But the FITPULSE is about half the cost, has 30 different speeds, and comes with a bunch of of different heads to massage different body parts, and I don’t think it’s very loud. I’m very happy with it.
I think you’ve answered this before, but can you link some cute and cheap summer sunnies?
I love these cheapies and they come in a ton of color combinations. We are also obsessed with these as well.
As a dietitian I’m curious your thoughts on food sensitivity home test kits? I just got my results from Everlywell but have read conflicting info on what the results are telling me.
I think with any tests like that you take the results as one piece of information..it doesn’t tell the whole story. There are variables that can influence the results of these tests. I think if you are experiencing symptoms this test might help guide you in experimenting with potential triggers and dosages so you can figure out what and how much of a specific food you can tolerate. You could also save the money and do this with an elimination diet. I always think it’s best to work with a professional to review and interpret the results and make a plan together.
Alix can you link you new Lululemon shorts? How is the sizing compared to the Trackers shorts?
Love my new shorts and wanted to get them in another color, but they are selling out fast! I wear the same size in the tracker short as these. These shorts are also similar to the stroll at sundown shorts, but different material.
What under eye brightening serum do you use?
We both love Tula’s products for under eye brightening and neutralizing. Alix got Heather this version for her birthday, which offers the perfect glow and even has a bit of a tint to it for under eye circles. Alix has been using this Brightening Eye Balm for over a year and loves it for a cooling/brightening effect.
I’m breaking out because of the heat (sweating!!)- are there any products or face masks you recommend?
Ugh we feel this on so many levels.. so much sweat happening lol! We both love Drunk Elephant’s Babyfacial once a week for a good acid peel, which helps with breakouts. Another good mask for breakouts is the charcoal face mask by Beauty Counter. And then we were introduced to Jan Marini’s line from our beauty guru at Skin Spirit and each purchased the Bioclear Lotion (it’s more of a serum) and use it as spot treatments on our breakouts and this has seriously been a game changer in our routine. We will continue to buy this product over and over as it has transformed both of our skin when it comes to acne.
I like the bike short trend, but not sure I can pull them off. Can you link your favorites?
Anyone can pull it off.. you just need to get the right ones 😉 We love the Align’s from Lululemon but they can ride a bit so we like them for lounging mostly or an at home workout. We probably wouldn’t go running in them cuz your booty might be on display ha! These leopard ones by Onzie are seriously cute and currently in my cart. These white ones would be so adorable with a longer tee or sweatshirt. Lastly, the ones by Alo are so comfortable, the perfect length, and come in a bunch of fun colors.
