CGM DEVICES
CGM (continuous glucose monitoring) automatically tracks blood glucose (sugar) levels 24/7. You can see your glucose level anytime at a glance without having to do a finger stick. You can also review how your glucose changes over a few hours or days to see trends.
CGM isn’t hype- it’s showing real time glucose levels and can help you make more informed decisions about how to balance your food and exercise. Levels and nutri-sense are two companies in the CGM game. Both work by a tiny sensor inserted under the skin on the back of the arm. The sensor tests glucose every few minutes. A transmitter wirelessly sends the information to a monitor.
I think this can be a helpful tool for someone who is pre-diabetic and trying to prevent becoming type 2 diabetic or someone trying to lose weight. Everyone has a different blood sugar response to different foods and can even have a big spike to foods that are touted as low carb/keto. This is a tool to help you identify foods and patterns that might be causing you to be resistant to weight loss. I’m a big fan of having more data (I like to track sleep and steps, etc.) so I’m a fan of these products depending on your health goals/medical condition.
However, just by wearing one you simply won’t lose weight; therefore, I think it’s always best to start with the basics when it comes to weight loss. If you’ve truly tried everything and thinking more data will help you figure out best foods/fod combos and possible trigger foods (foods that spike glucose) then this could help.
ATHLETIC GREENS
Health, but not essential. I have been taking AG1 for almost a year now, and while is pricey and not essential for “health”, but it really does cover all your bases. I’m typically not a green powder fan, but this product blows all the others out of the water. I take it every morning with fresh lemon juice and ACV in it and on an empty stomach. It gives me a good boost of energy and keeps things moving along 😉
It replaced my multivitamin, b complex, and pre&probiotics. I like my liposomal vitamin c packets, but I definitely don’t need it because AG is loaded in C and an antioxidant complex.
PROLON
OMG HYPE. I despise this program. It’s such a scam IMO. I wrote a blog post here about red flags to look out for in a fad diet. If you want to fast, just fast…no need to pay for it! Look at the picture of the ”food” they give you on their website it’s depressing. Of course you will loose weight if you cut calories that drastically…there is nothing magical they are selling you.
PARASITE CLEANSE
I had to add this one because my sister started this cleanse and I just couldn’t deal lol. Unless your doctor has diagnosed you with a condition (maybe you did drink contaminated water) then your insides aren’t dirty and your body has a natural detoxification process. A brief fast or “juicing” diet might give your digestive system a break after heavy indulgences. Sure. However, there is no need for these uber expensive, so-called “cleansing” products that these diets make you buy. My sister did end up stopping the cleanse because she was not having pleasant side effects lol. (Sorry for sharing this sis!)
A healthy diet, adequate hydration, fresh air, exercise is all that you really need for clean living.
If you have a serious condition you need to consult your medical professional, not trust someone on IG with a discount code 😉
CARNIVOREMD2.0
I had never heard of this account, so thank you for sharing. There are SO many red flags here. Anyone that tells you vegetables are bad has their GM mind. Typically, anything that is extreme is a big NO for me and this guy is all extremes. I also don’t like the scare tactics around food he uses. I would unfollow 😉
LEMON WATER
There is a lot of pseudoscience surrounding lemon water and it’s cleansing properties. There is nothing magical about drinking lemon water first thing in the morning, besides that it’s refreshing, gives you a little dose of vitamin C, and you’re hydrating. The majority of the benefits you’ll get from drinking lemon water in the morning you’d get is you also just drank a plain cup of water.
I love adding lemon juice to my Athletic Greens in the morning because of the taste it adds and hit on vitamin C…I don’t think it’s ”cleansing me” 😉 So, if lemon water at 6am is your jam go for it, but also just drinking regular H20 will do the trick as well.
ELDERBERRY
Elderberry has gained a lot of popularity for it’s antiviral properties and it is rich in vitamin c and antioxidants like flavonoids. Small studies have shown that taking elderberry can help shorten a cold. The best way to take is to buy an organic, high-quality syrup or extract. I take one of these packets daily for immunity and skin health and also give Quinn this supplement daily.
