We just got back from a very relaxing and unplugged week and a half in Kauai.. a tradition we started about three years ago for Thanksgiving. I’ve been to every island of Hawaii as it was a trip I took with my family as a child and I told my husband when we got married that I always dreamed of bringing my own kids to Hawaii. And as of recently, Kauai has my heart. It really is my favorite place on Earth because we do nothing but lounge, spend uninterrupted quality time as a family, sip poolside drinks, and go to bed by 8.. the dream.
My view at the pool each day. The pool has two slides, multiple jacuzzi’s, a splash pad for little ones and it’s all very close to the pool bar 🙂
Kauai is our little slice of heaven because of where we stay. There are so many hotels to choose from but at this stage of life, Koloa Landing hits all the marks for us. They offer hotel suites with one, two and three bedrooms, which makes traveling with three wild boys so much more enjoyable for everyone since we aren’t living on top of one another all week long. The boys can escape to their rooms if they want.. and so can we. We spend our days at the pool, eating delicious food from celebrity chef Sam Choy at Holoholo Grill, and walking to nearby beaches safe enough for the boys to swim. It’s also located right next to two popular touristy shopping centers with restaurants, shopping, coffee shops, shave ice, etc. My only other hotel recommendation in Poipu would be the Grand Hyatt. It’s massive with slides and acres of pools but with three young boys, it’s not the right fit for us just yet. I’d lose them lol. Another fun fact about Koloa – Macklemore and his family have stayed here for Thanksgiving the past three years as well.. so we’re basically friends at this point 😉 jk we leave him alone, as does everyone, but still a fun celebrity sighting.
We visited all of our favorite spots (which I am sharing below) and everything I packed for 10 days in paradise. And if you ever find yourself planning a trip to the islands, I hope this post helps!
The beach at the Sheraton and Poipu Beach offer up safe conditions for kids to swim and play in the waves.
We snuck away for a couple of date nights. The first at Rum Fire at the Sheraton Poipu. The second was at Merriman’s. Both have views that don’t disappoint, fresh fish, and delicious cocktails.
