It’s cliché to say, but I truly can’t believe Kinsley is already a year and a half! She is turning into the cutest little person with so much personality. She understands so much of what we say and is starting to have more and more words. Daisy is her best friend (I mean is was her first real word) and it’s hilarious to watch their daily adventures today. Anyways, it’s been a while so I figured I would give a little Kinsley update + all our 18 month favorite products.
SCHEDULE:
I try to stay very consistent with her routine as I’m a believer that kids (and myself) thrive with a consistent routine. I work Tuesday and Thursday, so I don’t get to see her those mornings.
7:00-7:30am: wake + 5oz bottle (Yes, I still give her a bottle 2 x day. I know I should be weaning off it, but it keeps her a baby and she LOVES it, so I’m not ready yet)
8:00am: morning stuff: get Quinn ready for school, breakfast for the girls, make school lunch, etc.
9:00am: get Quinn to the bus then Kinsley and I will either run errands, gymnastics class once a week, or stay home and play.
10:00am: small snack if she’s hungry
11:30am: lunch
12:00-2:00pm: nap time (I limit her nap to 2 hours, so she does not get too much day time sleep. She is such a good night sleeper that I don’t want to impact that with a longer nap). This is when I get all the things done I can’t with her awake. Blog, workout, meal prep, clean the house, or go to an appointment is my husband is working from home.
2:30-3:30: wake up from nap and snack time. If it’s dry and not too cold we will go for a walk at this time before getting Quinn from the bus and get fresh air.
4:00pm: pick Quinn up from bus and play at home because it is now dark around this time.
5:30pm: dinner
6:00pm: bath, PJs, book
6:30-7pm: 8 oz bottle + bed
SLEEP:
She continues to be a good little sleeper and I don’t take it for granted! Sometimes she will have an off night and I think that is usually because of a tooth bothering her. She does take a little while to fall asleep for naps and bed time sometimes. She plays and chats for a while before passing out, but doesn’t usually cry.
She will also do this in the morning…she plays and lounges in her crib when she wakes up and does not cry until she’s been up for a long time then she will let you know. So, I typically just let her hang out when she’s up until I’m ready to get her. She still uses this sleep sack for naps and bedtime.
EATING:
She drinks about 12 oz whole milk a day from her bottle. I will talk to her pediatrician next week about transitioning off the bottle (sads) and what they recommend.
Kinsley eats 3 meals a day and about 2 snacks. She is still a good eater and has not gotten picky yet like her sister. If she doesn’t like something she will throw it off her tray for Daisy which is frustrating. I hate the throwing food stage!! Meals are messy at this age and I’m just trying to breathe through it and know it doesn’t last.
I really just try and give her what I’m eating. She is a good protein eater and will eat all meat, loves dairy products (cheese and yogurt) and all fruit. She LOVES avocado, so that is a staple in her diet. I really just offer her whatever we have in the house and I’m cooking. I will deconstruct our meals to work for her.
PERSONALITY
She’s funny! She loves to be silly and laugh. She’s obsessed with all dogs and calls every dog she sees Daisy. She is definitely starting to get some sass when she wants something and wants whatever her sister is eating. She doesn’t like to be left out of what big sis is getting. 18 months is just pure chaos. It’s adorable to see her personality develop and she’s talking more, but she also wants to climb on everything, open every drawer and make the biggest messes. Despite that she still has a very sweet, loving, and calmer nature to her.
