My skincare routine has changed a bit since becoming pregnant. I’ve had to remove some of my favorite, more clinical, products out of my routine. I’ve worked with my aesthetician to try and find alternatives to help with the acne cause by hormone and dietary changes.
When I’m pregnant I tend to consume more dairy (it just sounds good) and also have more carbs/gluten in my diet. This definitely causes me to breakout more, but it’s what my body wants right now. Anyways, this has been my skincare routine for the past 5 months and it’s really helped keep the breakouts in check!
AM ROUTINE
Face Wash I’ve been using this Tula face wash for years now and don’t stray! Some mornings I’ll just splash water to cleanse to avoid over cleansing my face, but will use face wash if I workout in the morning.
Vitamin C Serum I’ve tried a lot of vitamin C serums over the years, and I have to say this one if my favorite. It’s a little pricey, but lasts a while and also smells great.
Correcting Serum My aesthetician recommended this product to be a few years ago to help with discoloration and acne scars and I can really tell a difference. I use it twice a day (just one pump) and although its $$$ a bottle does last me a while.
Moisturizer + 1 pump B-Hydra Love my Drunk Elephant Potini + B-Hydra combo. I mix these two products together and lather on my face every morning.
Sunscreen Every day. Even in the winter! I really love this Tula face sunscreen. It’s light weight and easy to apply makeup over.
Eye Balm or this eye balm I always finish my morning routine with a brightening eye balm because #momlife #puppymomlife
PM ROUTINE
Face Wash Once again I use my ride or die Tula face wash!
Toner I love this toner. It’s gentle, affordable, and gets off anything my face cleanser missed. I will also sometimes use this in the morning
Overnight Serum My first trimester I was breaking out a lot likely from the big change in hormones and my diet (hello gluten and dairy overload!) and since I couldn’t use more of my aggressive products my aesthetician recommended this serum as a pregnancy safe alternative. It’s really been helping me and I plan to continue to use it until I’m done breastfeeding.
Moisturizer Heather and I both LOVE this night time moisturizer. It’s hydrating and a little thicker than my morning moisturizer, but not too thick. Great product!
Eye Cream I always finish with this nourishing eye cream. It’s thick, creamy, and hydrating under my eyes. A little goes a long way with eye cream so it lasts a while!
Masks I rotate through + use 2-3 x week
Exfoliators I use 1-2 x week
My esthetician said these exfoliating peel pads are still safe in pregnancy. I also exfoliate with this scrub a few times a week.
What I’ve Stopped Using During Pregnancy + Can’t Wait to Restart
I miss my retinol, Babyfacial mask, bioclear lotion, and botox! Since I can’t do botox right now I’m using this facial gua sha kit 1-3 x week to try and keep the forehead wrinkles in check 😉
