Can you believe it’s time to say sayonara to Summer? Are you depressed that this is even a topic right now? Well buckle up because it’s basically September.. RIP to pool days, afternoons at the beach and walks for iced coffees.. at least here in the PNW. It’s time to set some intentions for Fall (we’ve been taking way too many yoga classes apparently and all about setting intentions lol). Seattle is finally seeing some cooler temps.. unsure if it’s here to stay but we’ve actually had to bust out flannels and leggings in the last couple of days #PRAISE! We’ll take a few more hot, sunny days but not gonna lie, we’re ready and gearing up for Fall and everything our favorite season has to offer. Here’s how we’re prepping:
1. Meal planning
Wasn’t this on our summer bucket list? Well that was a total #fail so this fall we are getting our asses in gear and putting this at the top of our priority list. Every Sunday night, it’s time to meal plan and we’ll try our best to share our tips and tricks on Instastories so you can follow along. We both feel like we start out strong on Monday and Tuesday but by Wednesday it’s breakfast for dinner or cereal. Struggle is real. Less takeout.. more home cooked, family meals.
2. Staying positive
Is this one lame? Don’t care. Easy to say but not as easy to carry out. But it’s oh so important. As the clouds roll in, it’s easy to get in a funk and slump. We have to work really hard to remain positive especially as the weather starts to change and we get stuck inside with the kids. It’s so easy to complain about the weather and threaten our husbands we are moving back to the OC for these rainy months, but we’re determined to have some fun in the PNW. We plan to get the kiddos all the rain gear and continue to still get outdoors as well as explore all the great indoor kid friendly activities Seattle has to offer.
I mean, look how positive and happy we are in this photo?! 😉
3. Hydration
You know we mean business about staying hydrated! (I mean Alix has an entire drawer in her kitchen designated to her water bottles- it is a sight.) As the temps start to cool off it’s so easy to forget about water or not crave it as much, but just because it’s not hot outside doesn’t make drinking water any less important. Let’s keep the water challenges up- who’s with us?!
4. Practice gratitude
OK, seriously maybe we’ve been drinking the yoga kool-aid, but this one just resonates with us. Social media is meant to be fun and creative, but it can also bring up a lot of negativity too. It’s so easy to get caught up in the comparison game which can leave you feeling worse about yourself and/or situation. It’s important to slow down, disconnect, and find ways to practice gratitude for what you DO have. This can be accomplished in many different ways, but we like the idea of journaling to help you stay grounded and present…and of course yoga 😉
5. All the Fall Activities
Seattle in September, October and November are truly breathtaking and the city has so much to offer adults and kids alike. We want to go apple picking, carve pumpkins, make cider, make pumpkin bread and visit the pumpkin patch. So basically anything that has to do with pumpkins. One thing NOT on the list… getting pumpkin spiced lattes. Anyone else think they are truly disgusting? Woof.
What are your intentions for fall? We’d love to hear them! xx
