My hands were full with a poolside cocktail and Kins most of the trip, so there was very little time for reading, but I wanted to share the last 5 books I’ve read/listened to and my review on them. A few hits and a few misses this round.
Golden Girl
Love a good Elin Hilderbrand book. I listened to this book and enjoyed it. The book did have it’s sad moments and had me feeling emotional at times as a mom, but overall was a feel good book. It was an easy read/listen with no big plot twist IMO but a nice story. It was pretty vanilla, but I still enjoyed the story and would recommend it.
Reminders of Him
I was SO excited to start a new Colleen Hoover book, but was somewhat let down by her latest book. Unpopular opinion, but I was not obsessed with this book. It was as predictable as they come and just didn’t really do it for me. I listened to it quickly, but mostly because I wanted to finish it and start something new. Her best books are It Ends with Us, November 9, Verity, and Regretting You if you want to read a good CH book 😉
It Happened One Summer
A follower told me this book was spicy and they weren’t lying!! This would make the perfect vacation read as it’s light and fun. It’s also cheesy and predictable, but I still found myself enjoying it. I plan to read Hook, Line, and Sinker soon which is a follow-up book to It Happened One Summer.
The Sanatorium
I’ve had this book since I was pregnant with Kinsley and FINALLY finished it! This book is a little different of a read for me, but I’d heard so many good things about it I decided to go for it. It’s a gothic, murder mystery type thriller set in a bougie minimalist hotel that was previously a sanatorium. I really enjoyed the first half of the book, but the second half fell off for me. All of the loose ends did not come together well and the story did not wrap up nicely IMO. I was left feeling a bit frustrated and underwhelmed by the ending.
I listened to this book and really enjoyed it. It kept you guessing about what was really going on and there were a few good twists to keep you engaged. None of the characters were super likable (you feel bad for one) but I still found myself needing to know the ending and how it would wrap up.
I started reading People We Meet on Vacation while in Palm Springs (I read 5 pages lol) and I’m also listening to Cancel the Wedding. I’m finding Cancel the Wedding boring so far, so going to start Last girl Ghosted instead.
Drop your book recs in the comments section. I also love adding to my list!
