Scottsdale Recap || Where We Stayed + What We Did

Alix and I just got back from a long weekend in Scottsdale, AZ for our annual blog retreat and today we’re sharing some snaps from our trip. We always schedule something in January or February to escape the winter blues in Seattle and it was perfect timing this year with the snow days we endured leading up to our trip. This year we chose Scottsdale as it is predictably warm and we actually got very lucky with the weather. We had highs in the 70s with few clouds and posted up at the pool each day to catch some much needed vitamin D. Here’s everything we did this past weekend to rejuvenate and get inspired for more content this year:

We checked into the Omni Resort & Spa at Montelucia and it was absolutely breathtaking. Spanish inspired with orange and lemon trees surrounding the property. It didn’t feel like we were in Arizona but transported somewhere in Europe. The Waste Management Open was happening this same weekend so we were surrounded by lots of golf bros (at least it was entertaining) but because the hotel is so high end, it didn’t feel like they were taking over the hotel or out of control. It was still so relaxing and a great vibe.
Alix has a friend who works at the Omni and she hooked us up with some in room champagne and pita and hummus cuz these girls love to snack.

We went to Uchi, which is a new sushi restaurant in Old Town. Alix had been to the one in Austin so we decided to give it a try in Scottsdale. It’s very similar to Nobu. It’s a total experience and the food is beautiful and delicious and fresh.

We received a whole lot of recommendations on where to eat as Scottsdale has so much to offer in that department but here were some recs we got a lot:

Global Ambassador is a new hotel that is apparently SICK and has an epic rooftop for cocktails.

Sumomaya is close to the Omni and favorite amongst a number of people we chatted with.

Steak 44 if you want to go traditional steakhouse vibes.

The next morning we snuck in a long walk on the treadmill and got in a self-driving Waymo Uber car (terrifying.. shocked this is legal lol) and headed to get an authentic Thai massage.
We went to Authentic Thai Massage and got a 90 minute INSANE massage for $110. They have locations in Old Town and North Scottsdale (we went to Old Town) and it was indescribable. They fully walk on you, digging their feet and hands in pressure points. Hot stones. Stretching. The works. And we had a couples room because that’s all that was available lol. We truly hate nothing more than crappy hotel massages for $350 so this was a treat at such a reasonable and fair price. And it was clean and not weird in any way. 10/10 experience.

After our authentic massages, we got a day pass to the spa at our hotel – Joya Spa. The spa has its own rooftop private pool, a different menu, and gorgeous views of Camelback Mountain. We utilized their cold plunge shower, steam room and sauna and whirlpool. It was a dream.
Omni has a bunch of rocking chairs in front of a massive fire pit and live music on the weekends so we grabbed an aperol spritz and posted up for a little happy hour.
We always spend our second night in with room service and binging Netflix. We watched Apple Cider Vinegar, which is based on a true story (giving Scamanda/Inventing Anna vibes) in our robes and were in bed before 10 pm.
