How Far Along: A little over 26 weeks now! I feel like the first trimester went by sooo slow and the second is flying by! I can’t believe I’m almost in the home stretch.
Feeling: Physically I feel pretty good other than low back pain/SI pain. I got this belly band and feel like it is helping relieve some of the low back pressure. I also continue to get monthly massages and I’m in the process of trying to get into a chiropractor that specializes in pregnancy.
Mentally, I’m feeling excited but nervous to be honest. I wrote a post a few weeks ago about how I’m feeling about transitioning from 1 to 2 kids and was pretty honest about my anxiety. I did recently start a low dose of anxiety medication my doctor prescribed that is safe in pregnancy and breastfeeding. I think it’s helping take the edge off, but may have to increase dose before baby comes as I know I’m prone to postpartum depression and anxiety.
I think once we get the nursery set up (goal for the next month) and all the little things I need (I make an ongoing list in the notes section of my phone) I will feel a lot better! I know it will all come together in the end, but currently I’m not feeling ready or prepared!
Maternity Clothes: I roatate between like 4-5 pairs of leggings/joggers for the most part and wear oversized tops. I’m really trying to not buy a lot because I’m basically just homebound or running a few errands here and there and don’t really care what I look like TBH!
I’ve been wearing my Lululemon align pants a lot. I sized up and they fit perfect, but the waistband just rolls down sometimes- suuuper cute! I also wear my align joggers A LOT. I like these Zella maternity leggings, these beyond yoga leggings, these beyond yoga joggers, and these workout leggings. I also have this cloud bra in two colors I wear a lot and this bralette is has very comfortable during pregnancy. Neither are maternity I just sized up.
Sleep: I don’t really have insomnia anymore (I’m sure that will come back in my third trimester) but I do have trouble getting and staying comfortable. My low back hurts during the night while I’m tossing and turning trying to find a comfortable position. I just ordered this pregnancy pillow and hoping it will help me get better sleep because I so need it! Oh also sleep training the pup hasn’t helped! Daisy will still sometimes wake up between 4-5am to go out and I can’t fall back asleep. I sometimes take the Unisom to help me get into a deep sleep, but try not to take it too often.
Body Changes: I’ve got a serious bump! My doctor says I’m measuring perfect, and that makes me feel good because I feel like I’m bigger this time around. I’m trying to stay positive about body changes happening right now, but there are definitely times I feel blah and that’s OK and normal!
My skin is improving in the second trimester (still not 100%), but I’m trying to get regular facials and my diet has normalized which helps keep my breakouts in check!
Exercise: My workouts haven’t drastically changed, but the intensity has. I am riding the Peloton bike 2-4 x a week either doing a ride + arm toning or a bike bootcamp. There are also some great pregnancy rides and strength training classes from Robin. I’m also doing barre online 1-2 x week and walking as much as possible when weather allows. I can’t go as hard on the bike and also feel like I have to pee the whole time!!
I’ve also had to tailor my workouts around Daisy’s nap schedule. I miss being able to wake up early and get my workout done before Quinn wakes up, but can’t really do that because Daisy is READY TO GO first thing in the morning! I guess this is getting me ready for baby and having to sneak in workouts whenever I can.
I’m thankful that the pandemic has made me get used to working out at home because classes won’t really be an option once baby girl is here. Between the Peloton and everything online these days I’m feel confident being able to keep up with workouts once I’m cleared after baby!
Cravings: I honestly don’t have cravings, but I have a sweet tooth (always have). Since I’m not drinking at all I give myself more permission to have treats and indulge a bit more than normal. I have been enjoying a bowl of cereal a few nights a week and have been loving the Magic Spoon cereal– worth the $$. I have some sort of dessert/chocolate almost every night.
Symptoms: I felt so terrible in the first trimester, but thankfully that passed around week 13 and I have not really dealt with morning sickness since. I am starting to feel baby girl move more and more which is always a trip. My placenta is in the front this pregnancy and so the baby kicks/movement feels much different than it did with Quinn. The movement feels a bit muted and I don’t see my stomach move as much. I’m anxious for the 32 week ultra sound where they will check her placement.
Mood + Energy: My mood feels pretty stable, but definitely have my cray cray or down moments. The weather in Seattle is slowly improving and that plays a significant role in my mood. I’m so thankful I’m having a spring baby!
I typically feel pretty energized during the day, but exhausted by the evening (especially when chasing after the puppy all day). Unfortunately, I feel like I have less patience with Quinn later in the day when I’m feeling really tired, but trying to give her good attention and enjoy our solo time together before sister comes. I’ve been crawling into bed between 8:30-9pm and I’m just wiped.
On My Mind: Right now my main focus is getting all the little (and a few big tings) I still need and trying to get the nursery organized. We ordered Quinn new “big girl” furniture and moving a lot of her stuff into the nursery. Once both the girls rooms are organized I will feel SO MUCH better! I remember feeling this way with Quinn and I know everything does come together in the end.
I’m also anxious/nervous about how much work Daisy requires right now and how that will look when the baby gets here. Yes, I know the timing is not ideal, but she will be almost 7 months old by the time baby girl is here and I’m hopeful she will be done with teething and a little more chill!
I feel like the third trimester is going to fly by and I’m wanting it to slow down and let me get ready!!
Looking forward To: I’m looking forward to going through and unpacking all of Quinn’s old baby clothes we saved and getting everything organized. I have an ongoing list of everything I still need and can’t wait to check everything off my to-do list! Hopefully I can get that done sooner than later and can relax and enjoy the end of my pregnancy.
Thank you for following along.
