We have three months until summer so now is the time to get our butts in gear. I somehow found myself on the toxic side of skinnytok on TikTok #oops but let me tell you something: it’s only toxic to people who aren’t ready to hear the truth. I actually found it motivating in some ways to put down my fork and pick up my feet lol. I lead an active and healthy lifestyle and I’m not trying to lose weight but sometimes you need someone to look you right in the face and encourage you to get moving! So today I am sharing the physical and emotional ways I am preparing for summer so I can be the best version of myself during my favorite time of the year. Time for that summer GLOW UP. Who wants to join me? 🙂
Physical Glow Up
- Hydrate! Goal: Drink 80oz daily out of my Owala water bottle
- Weekly hair mask and oil (on the ends) for healthy hair
- Prioritize whole and nourishing foods / Cook at home 5 nights a week
- Avoid eating after 7 pm as well as avoiding ultra processed foods
- Organize your wardrobe – out with the old/items that haven’t been worn in a year
- Consistent AM and PM Skincare Routine
- Monthly facials + BBL/IPL Laser to remove prior sun damage; dermaplaning for smooth skin
- SPF DAILY
- Pilates/yoga/stretching and mobility + walking at least 10K steps a day (I prioritize walking after every meal to balance blood sugar)
- Weight lifting 2x a week – I love Peloton classes for this to take the guess work out of it
Emotional Glow Up
- Pick up a hobby or do something that gets you out of your comfort zone (pickleball, tennis, golf)
- Stop the comparison game and get off toxic social media pages- be kind to yourself! The “unfollow” button is your friend
- No scrolling after 7 pm – plug your phone in and leave it in a different room
- Put the kitchen to bed, turn the lights down low after dinner and prep your body for 8 hours of sleep – here is my detailed nighttime routine
- Surround yourself with positive people who fill up your cup and don’t deplete your energy
- Celebrate progress, no matter how small it may seem
Self-Care
- Carve out time for yourself – schedule your walks, workouts, meal prep time (I do this every Sunday and make a plan for the week and stick to it)
- Catch up with a friend at least 1x a week – fill up your social battery and connect.. it’s good for the soul
- Have a weekly reset day (I like Sundays) – tidy up your space, clean laundry/sheets for the week, meal prep, organize closets
- Wash face 2x a day – Loving this oil cleanser followed by this creamy cleanser (double cleanse always)
- Exfoliate 1x a week
- Eye patches while walking
- Red light therapy for at least 20 minutes a day
- Sauna 3x a week (benefits of sauna use here)
- Lash serum morning and night
- Mouth tape every night
- Magnesium nightly
