Is there a difference between quartz and jade rollers? I didn’t know the answer to this so I decided to find out for all of us. You’re welcome.. cuz I know you’re confused too.
By now you have probably heard of this magical thing called facial rolling. Facial massage has captivated the beauty and skin care community for so many reasons. It is getting some serious attention because facial rolling promotes lymphatic drainage, de-puffs the face, tightens, tones, and detoxes the skin from within. Like I said.. magical.
Who needs a professional facial or a massage when you have face rollers to your rescue? Ok, that’s a stretch cuz this B is still getting both of those things done professionally BUT obviously it’s not like I’m at the salon 5 days a week. Enter jade and quartz rollers! Known as one of the best Chinese skincare ‘staple’ tools, they can take your self-care routine to the next level.
Whether it is about relaxing your tense facial muscles (I have serious TMJ over here) or just helping the absorption of serums and lotions (cuz those are expensive AF), facial rollers are ancient beauty tools that work for all of your skin care needs.
Ok, so we know that facial massage is a game changer, but now we face a decision. The two facial roller options with the most buzz are the Jade stone facial roller and the Rose Quartz stone facial roller. Which one is for you? Are they really that different?! Let’s explore the benefits of jade rolling + rose quartz rolling and break down the difference between the two… it basically comes down to the type of stone:
JADE FACIAL ROLLER
Jade Facial Rollers have been around for centuries. They are evidenced back from, as back as the seventh century, China, where the stone was known to have various healing properties. This stone was considered as a symbol of grace, beauty, and longevity in the Chinese society. It is also known to balance your inner energy and gives you a sense of peace and harmony.
In the old days, the jade stone facial rollers were used to clear fluid congestion and flatten the wrinkles on the face.
I’ve done some reading that a Jade Roller is a Morning Roller. If you feel sluggish during the early hours or are not a morning person, this roller will work for the revitalization of your skin that helps you stay fresh and awake all day long. Moreover, this stone is also sought after for its skin cooling and tightening features.
THE POWER OF JADE:
- Jade was used for centuries to protect from harm and promote health and natural healing
- Promotes a sense of calmness (NAMASTE)
- Enhances positivity.. I could use some of this
- Stabilizes inner emotions (ok so it’s gonna cure my crazy?!)
- Promotes clear thoughts, ideas, feelings and insight
Groovy. Now, what about Rose Quartz?
ROSE QUARTZ ROLLER
Rose Quartz is a rosy pink variety of the Quartz stone. It is known as the love stone and is also considered best for the vibrations of love, joy, healing, self-care and anti-inflammatory properties. This beautiful stone comes with a powerful energy that works within both the heart chakra and the area related to compassion (all my yogis are LOVING this, right?). Along with this, it is also believed to raise self-esteem, balance emotions, lower stress, and restore self-confidence.
Egyptians believed that the rose quartz stone comes with miraculous anti-ageing properties. Packed with minerals like iron, sodium, silicium, magnesium, sodium, and oxygen, the Rose Quartz facial roller heals the skin, rejuvenates it, and also has the ability to reduce inflammation.
THE POWER OF ROSE QUARTZ
- Stone of the heart
- Used as a healing stone for the body and heart
- Inspires the love of beauty in oneself and others aka “SELF-CARE”.. huge fan
- Soothing, comforting and calming.. mmmmm I’m calm just typing that out
Ok, so that’s great if you believe in all that hocus pocus (personally, I’m on the fence). I want to know how to incorporate it into my skincare routine and if I should be using one over the other. Here’s what I found out from a whole lot of reading and my own personal experience of using BOTH types of rollers:
At the end of the day, they aren’t very different from a skin perspective.. they’re going to do the same thing. They’re going to de-puff, help with lymphatic drainage and make your moisturizer/oil absorb into your skin at a deeper level. But if you happen to have BOTH like me, here’s how you can rotate them:
HOW THEY CAN WORK TOGETHER
Whether or not you believe in the healing power of stones, the rollers both serve different physical benefits which you just can’t beat.
If you want the ULTIMATE radiant, glowing skin, try doubling up on facial rolling (roll twice in one day.. YOLO)! My favorite way to incorporate both rollers in one day is by using the Jade Roller in the AM straight from the fridge with a serum (Vitamin C or Collagen) to revive and de-puff the skin and then the Rose Quartz Roller in my nighttime skincare routine with a facial oil for a delicate facial massage before bed.W
Both rollers can be used to massage masks, serums, moisturizers and facial oils deep into the skin for better absorption. I like to push and press the oil into the skin using my fingers and then massage it all in with the roller. Similarly, on those nights when I opt for a sheet mask, I start by applying the sheet mask all over the face and then gently going over with the roller.
But my final verdict:
You can’t go wrong with the either of these gemstones as both of them offer excellent skin care benefits. Both rollers can be used with serums, massage masks, facial oils, and moisturizers for better absorption. There are only slight intrinsic differences between both of them.
Now start rolling.. your face will thank you.
