28 Summers
There was a lot of buzz about this book and for good reason. I haven’t talked to anyone who read this book and did not devour and love it. The story got my attention from the very beginning and kept me engaged throughout the book. Like most people I’ve talked to, I flew threw this book having to know the ending. I found myself getting frustrated with the main character at times, but still loved it. Great summer/vacation read for sure because it’s a light and quick read, but I recommend picking it up ASAP!
Next Year in Havana
I borrowed this book from a friend and had no expectations going into this book and was completely surprised by how much I loved it. I think this is my favorite book on this list. It took me a second to really get into the book and understand the different characters and two different time lines taking place, but once I did it flowed beautifully. There are two somewhat forbidden romances taking place in different generations that come together into one story by the end. This book made me want to travel and learn more about the history of Cuba.
The Lies that Bind
We all know Emily Giffin’s books are typically easy, fast, and fun reads and this one did not disappoint. The book takes place in NYC during 9/11, but it isn’t really about 9/11. I liked the main characters in the book and there were good twists to keep you guessing throughout the story. I read this in about a week- it’s a fast read and the perfect summer book on a vacation…if we ever get to go on another vacation lol!!
The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo
I just finished this book last week, but started it in 2020 so adding it to this list because I LOVED it! Many of you recommended this book after I found this authors other book Daisy Jones and the Six underwhelming. I gave the author another shot and I’m so glad I did. This was a great story and went in a direction I didn’t see coming and also had a nice juicy secret at the end. You won’t be able to put this one down once you start it!
Pretty Things
This book came highly recommended by a few friends, so I was excited to start it. This book kept me very engaged and I flew through the ending needing to know how it wrapped up. One of the main characters is a social media influencer and I found it a bit obnoxious and over the top how she was portrayed, but other than that no complaints about the book. The characters are all really interesting and how their lives all come together keeps you guessing until the very end!
I’m always looking for new book recs, so drop your current favorite reads in the comments section!
