I’m not sure if you heard but according to Gen Z, skinny jeans and side parts are out. And if you use the laughing/crying emoji instead of the skeleton to show that you’re laughing at something, well.. you’re OLD. So yep, that makes me old and I’m ok with it. I don’t plan to give up skinny jeans for baggy, sloppy pants but I do appreciate a more relaxed, tailored fit.. I can get on board with that. Today, I thought it would be fun to highlight some trends that are on their way out and things we’re seeing more and more of this Spring. And I am not saying that those things that may be on their “out” can’t still be worn! I think everyone should always wear what they feel most comfortable and confident in.. who cares what Gen Z says, right?! But some of the trends that were super popular back in 2020 are fading and taking a back seat to new trends like these:
What’s Out
- Bike Shorts (for the 2% of the population who could pull them off in the first place) – although for those of us who rock athleisure all day, I can still see a lot of people still trying to make this one work
- Neon – the trend is moving to more neutral, muted colors and the blinding colors need to be stored away.. I’m OK with this one
- Tye-Dye – this trend was so 2020. Still love our Urban Outfitters sweatshirts but I told Alix to wear them at home only lol
- Cold Shoulder Tops and Off the Shoulder Tops – I never got on board with this much in the first place.. but the cut outs are on their way out
- Large Logos – minimalistic style is in.. logos are out
- Logo Belts – I know people LOVE the Gucci logo belts and if you have one, rock it. I just think more understated styles are in right now. And who knows, the logos will probably cycle back in trend in a few years.
- Skinny Jeans – don’t shoot the messanger
