The boys have one more week of school and then it’s officially winter break! So we kicked it off by seeing Santa (twice!) and it went just about as good as expected. If you saw my picture on Instagram, you know that Parker was havin NONE OF IT. We talked about seeing Santa, about asking him for remote control cars, about sitting near him for a picture. Didn’t work. Didn’t prepare him at all. He walked in and was like WHO DAT?! I’m not sitting on his lap. Well, we made him anyway and he screamed his little heart out. Makes for a classic photo, in my opinion 😉
We had Britt’s work holiday party and every year it delivers on its promise for a royal hangover. My husband works with all of his best friends and their wives are my best friends. It doesn’t feel like a work party.. it’s just a party with our really good friends and we get to dress fancy. It’s one of our favorite days of the year. My in-laws were in town so they watched the boys.. not having a curfew is category 5. Dangerous territory. Hence why I am still nursing my head today.
Once the boys are out of school for the two weeks between Christmas and NYE, we’re hoping to fill their days with some fun outings to keep them busy. I also signed them up for a little winter camp nearby where they do crafts and experiments.. things I am just not good at. I am no Pinterest mom. So the camp will be fun for them and for me 🙂
I find myself in Bellevue fairly often and saw this huge tent in the park and looked it up: AN ICE RINK. YAS! How festive. I am not sure my boys are quite old enough for this yet but I think we’ll head that way one day and at least hit the park and watch the ice skaters. If they feel so inclined to lace up, I will let them. It looks so cute and fun for the holidays!
We have never done Snowflake Lane in Bellevue but think this might be the year we stay up late and stand in the cold lol. Maybe. Obviously it’s past the kids bedtime but they’re out of school and I tend to push it back this time of year and just let them have fun. That or Zoo Lights (or Wild Lanterns? Name change?).. my kids love going to the zoo and seeing it all lit up. So if you see me at either of these events over the next two weeks, just know that the coffee in my tumbler ain’t coffee 😉 But you knew that already… cuz you’re drinking too.
Alix and I are heading to Yuan Spa the day after Christmas as our gifts to each other and to celebrate our blog and the fun we have doing it. We both love their massages + cupping but their menu is extensive and you can find just about any bodily service you could ever want at their spa. Afterwards, we’ll have lunch and mimosas while our husbands stay home with the kids who are already bored with their Christmas presents from the day before 😉
I am also getting my first IPL treatment at Skin Spirit over winter break and I think it’s the perfect time to do it. Winter is ideal (you have to be out of the sun for several weeks beforehand) and I am looking forward to getting rid of my sun damage, spots, acne scars, etc. And here’s your daily reminder to wear sunscreen, rain or shine.
Other than that, we’ll likely hang around the house, have friends and neighbors over, hope for a day or two of snow so we can sled, bake cookies, roast marshmallows for s’mores and drink copious amounts of red wine 🙂 And when all is said and done… we’ll look like this:
