Since I’m now working out in the privacy of my own home I’ve noticed I’m not really wearing my tank tops anymore. I typically wear leggings or bike shorts + sports bra + long sleeve layer. I get hot quickly when I exercise, so it’s nice to not have to bother with the layer of a tank top anymore 😉 Today I’m sharing my ride or die pieces I wear over and over.

Physical activity is something that has always been part of my life. I played competitive soccer my entire childhood and throughout college. Being lazy was never an option because I’m competitive. I always wanted to be the best I could be, so I trained my ass off. Once my soccer career was over and there were no practices, weight room workouts, and games, I had to learn to self motivate. Like everyone else, I have my moments when I don’t feel like working out and lack motivation. Here are 5 ways I’ve found really hold me accountable and keep me motivated.
SCHEDULE WORKOUTS IN MY PLANNER
Every Sunday I meal plan and write out my workout plan. I will change it based on how I feel, but I like to see what my schedule looks like for the week and plug in the time and activity I want to do. If I go to bed with no plan of the next day’s workout, I’m less likely to get a workout in the next day. I’m a planner, so having my workout planned out, outfit laid out, and alarm set, I’m way more likely to be successful in getting my workout in.
WORKOUT WITH FRIENDS
I love having the accountability of meeting a friend for a workout. Whether it’s meeting for a walk or on the Peloton for a ride, I’m way more motivated when it’s with a friend. I encourage you to reach out and schedule workout dates with friend or see if your friend with a Peloton wants to meet on the bike twice a week for a set ride. With COVID it’s harder to workout with friends because we aren’t meeting for Orange Theory and Barre as much, but get creative in how you motivate each other and hold each other accountable. I’m notorious for wanting to make catch up dates with friends active. Grab a coffee and go for a walk or hike, or meet at barre then grab lunch after…you’ll feel so much better!
APPLE WATCH
I know the fitness watches can be triggering for some, but I find it motivating. I really just compete against myself and try my best to close my rings and get my steps in. I obviously have days this doesn’t happen and I’m kind to myself, but my watch really does motivate me. I’ve turned off all notifications because those are annoying not motivational for me, but my watch makes me walk more and be more active overall. I’m excited because I just got the new Apple Watch 6 and I got the black band and rose gold watch. I tried this combo on in person and it’s so pretty. It should be here next week. I will keep you guys updated on how I like it!
MIX IT UP
I have exercise ADHD and I get bored easily. I never really get bored with Peloton because the classes are all so different, but sometimes I’ll take a week off the bike because I need to mix it up. When I plan out my weekly workout routine I like do so something different each day. For example Monday: 20 min ride + 20 min strength, Tuesday: long walk + abs, Wednesday: Barre/pilates, Thursday: long walk + abs, Friday: 30 min ride + 10 min arms or 30 min strength training, Saturday: Bike bootcamp, Sunday: rest, restorative yoga, or light walk.
CUTE WORKOUT CLOTHES + GEAR
Even though I’m working out mostly at home, I still like to look put together (mist of the time). Treating yourself to new leggings, shoes, or sweatshirt is a nice reward for your hard work and you’ll want to put it on and get moving!
I’ve been eyeing this new Lululemon print align leggings (color: wild thing camo), these leggings would be so pretty this winter, love this pullover in grey and this pullover. I’m on a crop tank kick and this one is perfect for at home workouts. Lastly, I’ve wanted these leggings in washed black for a while and might finally need to full the trigger!
