Typically, my family goes to Wisconsin for the 4th of July because that’s where Britt’s family lives. It has been a tradition ever since we met but this year, we are postponing our trip until the end of the month. So that freed up our 4th of July plans! This year, along with three other families (literally 8 adults and 9 kids.. Jesus take the wheel), we rented a house in Seabrook. It’s a coastal beach town 3 hours away from Seattle with ALL the fun activities for kids and adults – we’re talking pools, sport courts, water activities, playgrounds and wine tasting. So for today’s post, I thought I’d give you a peek inside my summer vacation bag and what I’m packing for our trip.
First off, OUTFITS duh:
Packing all the red/white/blues (I bought it oversized to throw on after a long day at the beach), maxi dresses (on major markdown!) and joggers for lounging. We might venture out one or two nights for dinner and in that case, I’ll throw on something a bit more polished but vacay friendly like this Free People jumpsuit (it’s also bump friendly). My girlfriend has it in purple and I’m totally crushing on the red for summer. I’ve been waiting for it to go on sale and it hasn’t yet because it’s so #popular so maybe I just need to pull the trigger, right? Right.
Next, my girlfriends and I thought it would be fun to do face masks every night while they’re drinking wine and I’m sipping on La Croix (insert crying face here). I mean, gotta keep the skin hydrated at all times, especially when cocktailing. I usually pick up inexpensive sheet masks at Target and throw them in my bag for nightly hydration. This one is great as is this one! I gravitate toward sheet masks that promote hydration/brightening but you can find one for just about anything these days so buy what your face needs.
Along with skincare, I’m bringing my Drunk Elephant Littles kit and face sunblock. I’ve been mixing their new product, D-Bronzi, with my SPF and it gives that perfect sun kissed, been out in the sun glow without the harsh effects of actually being out in the sun. And like Alix mentioned in a previous post, you can’t forget about the rest of your body that needs protection. Supergoop has the best body sunscreen and hand cream that will definitely be in my beach bag. Who wants old lady hands? Not me.
With all that sun talk.. it brings me to HATS. I always throw on a baseball cap before heading out but can I just say, I am obsessing over the full visor trend? Nordstrom carries this one and this one by Eric Javits and they’re priceyyyyyy so I’m trying to find a less expensive version before our trip.
Lastly, I just ordered some maternity swimsuits and cover ups/tops from ASOS and I’ll link them below. I don’t buy a ton of maternity clothes in general but I felt the need to get a few swimsuits (cheap ones!) for the summer because I don’t want to stretch out my nice suits. And I always just want to throw on an oversized tee after a long day outside so I threw a handful of those in my bag.
